Whats happening to the '06 Moose?

I asked ian Smith what was happening to the 06 Moose yesterday. Seems like its a bit in limbo, although there are moves to have it as part of the FF Festival at Brands.

I would have thought that it had established itself as one of the end of season 'Trophy' events and as such should retain its northern roots and heritage as well as adding another choice for drivers at the end of the season. (Brands is such a long and expensive way to go.)

It seems all to often we have to traipse miles away to tracks, which perhaps aren't quite as challenging as Oulton. The other benefit of having the Moose up North is that we can get some of the Irish lads to come over and get caned.

What do people think?

(I hope it gets a better response than some of the topics raised on here of late - think some folk have been scared off!)

Yes it is very strange as it was so popular last year and it built well on the popularity of the year before so it is so strange that it has disappeared!

Whilst I may or may not be able to actually support it; it would be a shame for it not to carry on as last year looked great and there was such a great turnout (lol again not supported by me personally).

Hope it gets sorted

Definately have it at Oulton.....I think it was 66 cars entered last year.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.......Why have it at the FF Festival??? Surely that is all about the FESTIVAL.

In my humble opinion Moose's memory should be honoured in an one off event dedicated to just him, not tagged on to the festival.

Another 60+ entry at Oulton would be grand with a 1 minute silence on the grid in the final in memory of Moose. Long live the Moose Trophy.

Just over 40 cars entered last year, not 66. Many of those were not NW regulars either, which was a shame.

I would agree that it should be held at one of the northern circuits - Anglesey or Oulton - ideally as an additional race at an existing NW meeting, although this may now not be possible. Getting a bit late to find an additional date other than, perhaps, December Anglesey.

As I understand it, the only things racing at Anglesey in December will be JCBs! I'm told, but not by anyone who speaks with any authority, that there will be no December meeting as by then the constuction of the new circuit will be in full swing. Perhaps Diz can give an authoritative answer on this?

I'm not sure if it will be a single chassis JCB Formula, or a Formule Libre run what ever Digger you've got affair in December. One thing is certain though, I sure as hell won't be running it

I've not given up hope on getting an Oulton for the 2006 Moose. In fact, I've been on the case today.
The reason I was trying to get the Kent Festival for the Moose was
a} I didn't think I could get it on at Oulton or Anglesey, but I might be able to now - fingers crossed.
b} Moose loved his annual trip to Brands for the FFF
c} Moose loved travelling to all the circuits. He wasn't just a NW person

Correct Ian. It was 66 at an earlier NW round. The low NW turnout was down to the final round being the following weekend at Croft - drivers saving cars and money. Moose would have appreciated the saving money bit

What can we do to help get an Oulton Moose Ian?

I really feel it should be a standalone NW event after all the hard work you have done to promote it over the last few years.

The NW scene has such a strong support that why on earth should we export that enthusiasm elswhere?

Conversely, why should you keep it to yourself in the NW?

Because - if we want to - we can.
I'm sure you wouldn't want the Edwina running at Croft would you?

It wouldn't bother me at all. I like Croft very much and would like to see it hold more FF1600 races, although I'm not sure that Edwina Overend had a particular affinity with that circuit.

I'm just an enthusiast for FF1600 as a whole - no favourite circuits or championships, just ones for very sound reasons that I see more of. Sadly, it seems that there are few like me.

Silverstone has it's Festival

Brands has it's Festival

Combe has it's Festival

Oulton should have IT'S Festival...................

Nuff said really!

I never met Moose, but with so many people from the NWFF's having so many fond memories of him, and his great support for the North West FF's, the event should be held up north.

Could we not tag along with the BARC meeting at the end of the September? What event is on in the first weekend of September at Oulton? What about the dates not claiming to be an event taking place at Anglesey according to the BRSCC?

I'd very much welcome that date.

My friend is racing her Saxo in Saxmax the same day, and I didn't want to miss that. So if the Moose could take place on that date, that would be good.

I was rather hoping if it wasn't going to happen at Oulton, that it wouldn't be on the 9th September. But fingers crossed for that date.

But like I said, I never met Moose, I joined the party of FF a little too late. But from what I have heard, he was a northern man and focused his passion of FF's in the north. so its only right it stays here and welcomes other drivers from elsewhere.
