The Booby Prize

We always have a Driver of the Race thread. Who in your opinion didnt perform as they should today? Will it be Montoya for his amateur spin on the parade lap? Or Fisi for falling asleep during the race? Or Massa for binning it? Or Coulthard for not threatening Toro Rosso? Who gets your booby prize?

oooh there's so many. Bazza for being miles away in qualifying again. Massa for another rubbish qual and two giant stacks. Montoya for spinning twice under non racing conditions before running well wide and causing the car to switch off. Fisichella for apparently being asleep for the whole middle of the race. schuey senior for making loads of tiny mistakes followed by a giant one.

I guess of all of those, the only one who could have finished on the podium and didn't because of his own cock ups was Montoya. (assuming fifi-chella didnt have a hand in stalling at the start)

Massa shouldn't be causing accidents such as those at this level.

Honda in general.

I'm not convinced the lap 1 incident was entirely Massa's fault - Rosberg's car went across his pretty quickly and unexpectedly, it was Klien who was out of control first. My choice would probably be Fisichella, because after being unlucky at the start he didn't seem to try to fight back enough. Compare it to Kimi's many drives through the field after misfortune last year.

Worse than any of the drivers, though, is the TV director. Almost every incident was learned of not through the pictures, but the yellow flags and SC boards. Even then it usually took them 30 seconds to find the wrecked car.

Montoya made a comical error at the start, but I thought he was very impressive after that and was challenging for second until Schuey crashed. Then it all went downhill!

And the electronics failing over the kerbs was a bit unlucky, it was a good save! All round fighting display which deserved so much better IMO.

Which brings me onto Fisi, who did nothing until Flav seemingly threatened him. Did he imagine the understeer problem? Because it is amazing how it cured itself in seconds.

Massa was a big nono for me. Living up to his Sauber days of being a big talent but prone to crash out too much. Spun more in 3 days of GP than Rubens did in 3 years and i wouldnt be suprised if he gets replaced if this continues for the enxt 2-3 GP's.

Juan was lucky not to crash like shumi but still showed he is a liability for a championwinning outfit Mclaren ought to be.

Jense doing a Trulli weekend was worse than id thought. Rubens even got a faster racelap in than him. How embarrassing.

Trulli continuing to prove his best years are long gone.

I found Shumi Sr not that strong, too.

His best years are long gone? This time last year he was driving as well as anyone, and I'm not sure that incident was his fault anyway.

Trulli, for coming under the illusion that he could pass DC going into turn six, DC never really recovered from being barged off the track. He may have got more than the eventual one point, but we'll never know.

Massa as well for driving into Klien and ruining not only his own race but that of Christian and the entirely innocent Rosberg.

I think Button wasn't good at all today. He was pretty mild on the restarts and didn't battle as a champion would battle for position. Alonso took him as if he was stopped.

My memory of Trulli is that he qualified high, then became the slowing factor in many a race last season. But i readily admit i never got warmed up for the man, eventhough he did nice things in the Jordan. Good qualifier, bad racer.

He's a perfectly good racer.

It's just he qualifies too high up for his cars race capabilities, thus making him look a bit silly.

My only gripe with Trulli in races is his occasional giving up when things go badly.

The giving up thing is what made him cost his place at Benetton iirc. Being in a good position at some magny cours race and simply put aside by Rubens. Flav was livid and rightfully so.

Don't think he gave up.....just got complacent.

But it was more an opportunistic move from Rubens.

Fisi is my chice for the booby. I will be surprised to see him with Flavio as his boss next year. He just gave up during the race and only produced lap times after a very public "dessing down" over the radio. I started this thread as it seemed to me there were more chumps on the race track today than ever

I agree unless Fisi becomes champion hell be replaced. The Q is by who?
We should start a thread with the possible replacements. For now my vote goes to Webba.
