AMRS Round 3 (Winton) Thread

Seeing Round 2 has been run and won I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread to discuss Round Three which will be held at Winton in two weekends time 6-7th May, the Mod's might even make it a sticky for a few weeks so it stays at the top of the list??

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it and will be heading up , as usual, on Friday evening.

I should be there, otherwise at Oran Park.

But will be looking to see if George M can return to the PTCC series at Winton as the car is currently in the hands of his well known father and uncle(?) at Taga.

Lauran Gray is trying to get out of the series and will only run the car until its sold so she can set her sights on F3 in the trophy series. Personally I dont think F3 is where Gray should be anyway.

F4000 - Its not enough time in between Wakfield so they can build up the numbers.

Touring Cars - hopefully they get get back to their mid 25 grids rather than 16 starters.

And another "i wish" factor is the weather, it better be dry.

What was it Paul - you had a 'good weekend' lined up or did Sandown get you a bit excited?

Lauren Gray isn't *in* the series - she races in the Australian Production Car Championship (yes, she did have a run at Calder in PTCC) And yep, Oran Park may well be the last time we see the mighty Echo Sportivo on the track with her behind the wheel (although it may get leased out or sold for future rounds of the APCC). The Grays are aiming to get an '01 spec F3 car for 2007 - and selling the Echo will help greatly to fund that. That was the last I heard from Mick when we were at Symmons anyway.

Doesn't/didn't Mick have 2 of these cars late last year (the Echo that is). I know he has had one for Laren and another used by (can't recall the other guys names) as well as Mick from time to time at State rounds.

The way i look at it is, the wrong drivers end up with the right money at times. Don't know why Gray needs to spend the extra money to end up in the same place for next year. But numbers are numbers to a certain extent.

You're thinking of the old Twin Cam Corollas that run in the Improved Production category in the Vic State series. I think there's 3 in the team, but only two are owned by Mick. There's only one of the Echos.

You think switching to the 01 car will still have her at the tail end of the field?
I think you're selling Lauren a bit short there. No testing, and a rather crapbox car means shes always behind the 8-ball at every F3 round. Given some testing in her own car, and being able to set it up the way she wants will help tremendously.

I woulnd't mind seeing that, but Leanne Tander would win the battle of the women in F3.

No testing, at all? Fair enough then, there are a fair few that test in F3.

It's called double clicking on the clock thing in the bottom corner of the screen and miss counting when I jumped the calendar from April to May

I didn't go near Sandown at the weekend, I was up at Winton for the motorcycle event up there, in fact I haven't worked at Sandown since the 500 last year although I did pop in on Easter Sunday to pick someone up and take him to some real (speedway) racing at Warrnambool.

By the way how about we bury the CAMS/AASA arguement hatchet (not into each other either) and have civil discussions on this thread

Touring Car Challenge

Can't wait for the Touring Car Challenge to see how the smaller BMW's and Peugeot can go on the smaller track, turns 2 and 10 should be fun.
weather is suggesting showers for sunday which level the playing field as well.

What I cant wait to see is Ozboss, as on its website Winton is stated as the first round, and whether they get enough cars to create a spectacle will be note worthy. Im not sure whether this car is apart of the series, but a 1980 Grand Prix car that raced at Calder was testing at Winton on good Friday. Whether it turns up, along with others will be a different matter.

But still something for the eye to watch out for.

That's a good move. Better off absorbing one into the other in the hope of more cars. Don't know if they'll get double figures (I guess we'll wait and see) but I envision that the F4000 championship will become the OzBoss title or vice versa.

Does anyone have an entry list, as on the website they are claiming "record fields".
