Paddockman should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Renault Test Team in Devizes!

Imagine my surprise today while stopped at a burger van between Trowbridge and Devizes in Wiltshire to hear the sound of F1!!

Popped 2 miles down the road to find the Renault Test Team operating at Keevil Airfield.

Great view of the latest Renault doing Instalation testing. Shame I didnot have a camera with me.

Anyone know whether Keevil is used often??

Must be Keevil....Kemble is not between Devizes and Trowbridge! Kemble is between Malmesbury and Cirencester on the A429....

Kemble was used most recently by SA as far as I'm aware....not sure re Keevil, never been there - Kemble is where I fly from in the summer.

I live just outside Devizes, and a few years ago heard an F1 car. Williams was doing straight line stuff at Keevil and it was the Brazilian chappie - can't remember his name - who didn't get the race drive when Button did.

So I think Keevil is a popular test team haunt. Amazing thing is I live about 6 miles away as the crow flies and heard the car in my back garden. Thought it was someone on a playstation at first!

I wonder why they use that one, thats the other end of the country to Woking. There must be loads of other nearer airfields they could use.

The problem is finding an airfield without noise restrictions - oh yes and planes - I reckon some teams also like to be away from prying eyes - I believe Elvington has now been noised off

Yeah it *was* 6 miles away and really you don't expect to hear an F1 car here in bucolic Bromham. Police helicopter, RAF Hercules and the odd tractor, but Williams F1 cars ???????? Easy mistake to make but I did realise otherwise how would I have gone and seen it?

Thanks Jordi for the name. Such is the price of fame eh? Gone from the public consciousness already.

Hms ok, if you say so! Not sure I've ever heard one from roughly six miles away...or if I have I haven't known the distance.

Hercs? Yep, get those here too.
