And the Silver Logie For Best Sporting Coverage Goes to....
... the 2005 Bathurst 1000
Good to see the sport is recognised against some pretty strong competition... ... whether we think the coverage is as amazing as it could be.... |

And to think the Melbourne Cup or the Aussie Open were going to get it . Billy and the gang deserved it. It was basicaly a two way fight, the 100 or the Indy but Bathurst once again won it.

And a special thank you to Channel 7 as Ch10 use 99% of the old Ch7 camera positions & technology (Race cam and so on).

PVDA, might I suggest these positions are a lot better used now than they were in the last few years of the Ch7 days.
Having recently embarked on transferring my VHS tapes of these races to DVD Im surprised we werent pulling our hair out watching these races. Congrats to 10, and I hope that Crompton can stay to keep the expert part of the commentry going!! The rest of the guys do a pretty good job within their limits. Slightly off topic, did anyone else notice that Leigh D mentioned during the RPM story on Darryls Targa run that they "...have been mates for over 30 years, since they were kids..." or words to that effect. I was under the impression that LD is from Perth, (and I know that he had never even been to Bathurst prior to his first stint there commentating at the Mount) and that Beattie is from Camooweal in Western Qld, or am I a little geographically confused??? |

I think Diffey is from Queensland. I seem to recall that he first started circuit commentary at Lakeside.

I have done circuit commentary at Lakeside since 1990. I've never seen Leigh Diffey there.

Come to think of it, work might have taken him to Perth in the early 90's. Stoopid Brain, filling up with too much useless stuff, making me forget the more interesting tit-bits!!

Bah, the logies are a crock. My wife used be employed as a temp at Nine when bert was there, and all that she and others did all day was fill out voting forms for the logies. TV Week used to just print out the voting page and deliver boxes to the stations full of them.

It's even easier now (and cheaper) as the stations/production companies just have to set up a automated program that SMS's the vote in.
