SEMSEC Lydden 28th
Cracking racing throughout this one, great meeting to end the season
Also well done to Pete Thurston - great race - great Donuts! I'm amazed at how much the rear tyres wobble when the car is coming out of the hairpin though, you can see them changing shape as they light up |

Me thinks that may have had something to do with the slightly worn rear wheel bearings

Ah - an "end of season special" set of wheel bearings, that explains it

Ive had better meetings.
I got the black and orange for suposely droping oil on the circuit. Thing is it was just smoke and not dumping oil like the beetle done for most of this year and did he get a black and orange, no they just waited till it caught light! It also cost me the championship. |

Thats a bummer minicross but i supose the marshals cant tell if its oil as you flying by and they have to decide if its safe to leave a car out on track that could go on fire or even cause another car to go off but i know how you feel .I had a good end to the season brought the old girl home in 4th place and should have won class 4 but for some reason pete,s escort seems to have been moved from class 5 to 4 for the day .Roll on next year and we can all have another go

Sorry I missed you Bert, we were all a bit busy. Mostly because of the many offs at Chessons during the sprint.
I kept telling the others on post it wasn't my fault, but somehow they didn't believe me. Good show indeed from Pete, the smokey doughnuts were great. Loved the day in general. See you in the weekend? |

Back onto the topic - I thought that was one of the better SEMSEC meetings this year, the saloon grid was looking particularly healthy (6 Minis!). |

Anyway roll on next season and I look forward to new battles with people like Mr Rooney as my little mini is going to have a rather large power hike over winter thanks to Mad Dog and we all know how quick his cars are!
If theres any money left in the pot theres going to be a new paint design too. Pimp my racecar!!!!! |

For me, I think 424 has been one of the most improved drivers at SEMSEC this year. I have watched with interest as he has gradually upgraded the car from a basic minicross car which was off the back of the field on the circuit, into a more and more competitive package. Just shows what you can do with a limited budget, but a well thought out development....and with Mad Dog blowing on the car over the winter....watch out 2007.

Sometimes I wonder if these people have ever been to a VSCC meeting at Silverstone, and stood at Copse for the opening lap. To see a 2.5L supercharged Riley, a big ol' Bentley, and maybe something else similarly quick from those heady days coming towards you is fab. Until lap 2 or 3 when you can see the rest of the field behind the smokescreen laid down behind them. If those cars stop smoking - quick, black flag 'em, or they'll seize up - they've run out of treacle in the sump!! I too have been pulled for spilling "oil" or "fuel" when in fact it was a little over filling of the cooling system, coupled with some pressure in the same. A catch tank will fix that!! (10 gallon one!) Rob. |

Ah yes; you all noticed. Rear wheel bearings on the Escort, we realised where shot. Hence he did one race, (the championship one), not the other two booked in for. If anyone saw the rear wheel let go at Brands a few years ago, well thats why we did only one race. Personally, Pete gets my backing because of his entertainment value and his courtesy, plus gentlemanly aggresive racing style on the track. Donuts a speciality of course. Having driven that Escort myself, I can say its well alive and a playful bit of kit, in Petes hands a delight to watch sideways. Lets hope its out more in 2007. Thanks Semsec, look forward to 2007. Happy Xmas, Dave
