Bahrain V8s - Information Required
Bill & I tend to go on holiday late November/early December to set ourselves up for the winter. We've now seen that the Australian V8s are racing in Bahrain 23-25 November. PERFECT HOLIDAY (we both thought in unison).
SO: I know there's a whole lot of you that have been out there, plus lots of aussie marshals reading this and I would like to get your feedback on: 1. Any chance of working at the race???????? 2. Where to stay (but remember its a holiday so we're there for approx 2 weeks not just the race weekend) 3. General advice on eating places, places to visit, etc....... Many thanks in advance, Shelagh |

Shelagh, why not drop the new member from Bahrain a PM to ask him?

Anyone see the ten-minute "Filler" on Motors TV this afternoon about this meeting?
Looks like a stonking meeting - one that sadly I can't do, but I fully intend to see if I can get to Bathurst next year! |

If you wish to volunteer to marshal, I suggest contacting CAMS in the first instance?

Thanks for all this helpful stuff.
It was the blurb on Motors that gave us the idea. Now all I need to do is figure out how to identify the new member from Bahrain! |

Ah, Ok, thanks. I assumed they would be involved in organization and could point people to it. The place is flat desert, so not entirley unlike CAMS usual area...

Bill & I have now decided that to make the holiday "a holiday" we won't work but will spectate (so long as we get everything booked!).
No idea what is on the program (ain't V8s enough?) but if champcarman is working and can "arrange" anything for us..................? |

Enjoy, then - they sound an awful lot better in the flesh than they do on TV, and they sound good on TV.

Should be an easy win for the camel, just as long as they don't meet up in the Paddock for a quick bite.

Well, we now have flights booked and are going to both Bahrain (for the V8s) and Dubai (alas no racing while we are there).
Might try to find a camel race, though! |

I'm a member of the MMC (Motorsports Marshals Club) in Bahrain. Please feel free to drop me an email. I'd be more than happy to help fellow marshals and camel racers enjoy our little island.

Well - we have e-mailed Moayyed as well as Chris Norman. And so far we are going to be working at a Dubai National Track Day on 1st December.
What was that about Busman's holiday? All I wanted was time off work in the warm......... I blame that Mike Kelly............................................(: |

Thanks to Mike Kelly, we are pre-warned to act as flag and observer only, rather than going onto the track (not sure our ancient knees etc would have it any other way).
According to Chris Norman, experienced flag and observer is what they are lacking so we will maybe try to do some on-post training! Apparently the day will consist of two races each for bikes, Golf GTis and Radicals. Now then, its all very well trying to teach the local marshals, but do the drivers know what the flags mean ????!!!! |
