Carrera Cup 2006
I see reports that testing of the 997 model has got underway through Bryce Washington at Mallala - all 25 new cars have been landed, does anyone know who the cars were allocated or sold to ?
What about entrants for the 06 series, nothing on the website: anyone ? |

Who got the new cars, I know Rod Jane has one, has Jimbo one allocated by Porsche? Who is going to run the Caratti car ? |

There looked to be three or four shiney new white ones at Winton last Friday. Sorry don't know who was driving them.

Vanilla Dice, are you implying that Peter Hill is no longer part of Team GMR? This would be an interesting development indeed

Oh great, and on the "new and improved" 10-10ths, I see I am now a chocolate marketer. No wonder the bloody threads are so goddamn slow to load *insert pod of expletives*

I guess Ross and Glen have given up on their own racing ambitions.

Garth Walden did indeed prep the Caratti / Insight F3 car last season, and did a brilliant job desipte a lack of experience with Open Wheelers. I dont know a whole heap about Aaron's Carrera Cup Operation for this season but I believe it's a separate thing from Insight.. That team is owned by David Borg (What they are doing this season is a whole different story). Bryce did test the new car at Mallala last week and all went well. The series' should be pretty open this season (Moreso than before) with the new cars. Aside from Roll Bar settings, Tyre Pressures and the odd other change here or there, there is stuff all for the crew to change on the car to make it go faster or slower. BTW the new car looks about 100 % better in the flesh than the old one. Sounds good, too. |

Arron Caratti stuck his into the wall at Oran Park last Sunday after only 2 laps. The front corner had a new square treatment and the rear suspension copped a hiding. The new virgin White machine certainly lost its virginity pretty quick and probably 30 grand or more to fix. I am sure there will be a lot more carnage this year as the cars dont have ABS which is probably why Caratti crashed.

Caratti crashed because of there being a bloody HUGGE difference between a 200hp F3 and a 400hp Volkswagen...
First wreck of the year, and it werent Bryce.. WOOHOO Bryce!! Richest bloke in the VW paddock? The bloke selling the spare parts for this series. Herbie, here.. Herbie... Herbie.... |

Not really.. but there was 4 Porsches in the team last year. One owned by the Adelaide doc, one by the skateboard nut, and two by wheoever is the real owner of GMR (I worked there for a bit and I couldnt figger it out..) So the 2 cars in the paper again this week are the team-owned ones, Gurry's one got a new shell between Bathurst and Indy (thanks Shannon.. we love you long time ) so its a bit wobbly to call it accident free... especially since Gurr drove it. |

Yeah, the new Porker is a bit of a different animal from the old GT3, the Braking being one of the main differences i've had feedback on. Aside from that Bryce reckoned that they were actually slightly easier (Better) to drive.
Just a clarification Re the Caratti thing... there is an involvment with his F3 crew and the Carrera Cup this season. Heard from David Borg today so that clears things up. Always happy (Erm..) to be proven wrong! |

Some whispering going on that GMR has pulled out, that is not competing, and employees are searching for employment.

GMR have a commitment to 3 franchises with CupCar Australia... I wonder who will pick them up... if the noise about Glenfords & PCR & Alex Davison is correct, then this may be one home... with 2 others "free"
If the employees are looking for work, then who will provide the overflow for Tasman? And will the "World Record" be in jeopardy if all 25 cars dont rock up in Adelaide |

Is anyone else a little disappointed at the lack of driving talent on GTR's provisional entry list?
No offence intended to the Cinis, Luxtons and Grants of this world, but how many of those entrants are capable of winning races? Richo is obviously a big chance, and Reynolds would be my tip for the Championship , but other than that, I don't see anyone who can take it up to them. Webb might be a chance to win a race or two, but other than that.... |
