For those interested in the 2007 Clipsal 500, the official launch is on tomorrow (Thursday), at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. Always a spectacular launch, with plenty of music, V8supercars, drivers and the new television campaign.

"Be There" is the 2007 Clipsal 500 theme.

And to all those Victorians out there, wait till you see the Victorian version of the TV commercial - we still love you though!!!!

Also announced at launch, Clipsal will continue sponsorship to 2015. Australia's largest motorsport sponsorship deal.

Given that the Clipsal launch was attended by Mr Brad Jones, does this suggest he shall be in attendance in his sparco next season?

Well, they did use one of his display cars (the one that resides at the Clipsal 500 office). No mention of him giving away the Sparco for a Red jacket though!!

Is Brad on the TEGA Board? They mentioned that there was a board meeting here today....

I loved it - Jon Stevens performed "Hot Chili Woman", and was announced as headlining the Sunday night concert (Andrew Daniels read it out wrong when he introduced him as playing on the Saturday night!). This is exciting news for me 'cos my wife runs his website!

Other commitments definitely for Murph and Jason Richards

Murph is in Taupo for the motorcross with KTM, and Jason Richards is at Pukekohe watching the NZV8 round (or he was today anyway) with Kevin Murphy.

Ok sweet. Just figuring if it was really Australia's largest motorsport sponsorship per annum or due to the fact they have signed till 2015. Obviously it is the latter.

Treasurer and minister responsible for motorsport, Kevin Foley, said the agreement was "the largest sports sponsorship deal ever in SA." It's estimated the naming rights are about $1 million a year but Clipsal will spend more than that leveraging its involvement.

Any idea then what the largest 'event' sponsorsip deal would be in Australia? Just interested to see what other motorsport sponsorship deals has been signed in recent times for the next 9 years? Whatever way you look at it, it shows the committment by both Clipsal and the state gov. towards the event.

A big tick to the organisers who once again invited the public along to the launch, free of charge, although tickets did needed to be ordered. They realise that they need the support of the public and show it by inviting them along, well done to the SA Motosport Board.

Does anything like this happen in the other states.

Well it depends how you choose to view it. Total deal or per annum sponsorship. Per annum provides a better picture of the actual worth of an event.

Fosters sponsorship of the Aus Grand Prix was for roughly 8.5 million per annum.

I'd be interested to see what SuperCheap paid for Bathurst annually and same for Lexmark with Indy.

And also, I suppose it's how they break down the sponsorship dollars. How much 'cash' to they actaully hand over and how much do these companies then spend in promoting the event through their business internally.

Clipsal mentioned on Thursday that they do heaps of their business at the event each year, flying people in from all over the world (& Australia) to do business negotiations etc.

In mentioning Supercheap, how much business would they do at the track with their huge marque set up?? Obviously they would get the site for free, hire etc the marque would be X$'s. Not a bad return for their sponsorship I guess, and yes it would be interesting to see how much they pay and even more interesting to see how much turnover they make through their onsite store!

The bottom line is that sponsors want to see a return for their sponsorship dollars spent - in this case - Clipsal see the return or they wouldn't be committing to a further 9 years.

No doubt, 9 years is a great commitment. Just thought it was a little ambitious calling it the biggest sponsorship in Australian motorsport.

i would hate to sit through 31 interviews aswell but i thought it might have been like a NRL Grand Final breakfast they have all 17 players there but only interview the Captain and the 'Big Names/Main Players' i thought it could of been like interview the 'Big Name' Drivers.but what they had was very efficant and it works all the time so why change it.

It comes down to attracting new fans. If they want to attract new people to attend the events and watch on TV, they'll just bring the well known names from each side and they will be protrayed as "The Contenders". Only problem I have with that is all new supporters usually start following them and none of the lower teams...
