CART drivers win at Texas
Finally the drivers in the fastest closed circuit racing series in the world got someone's ear to hear what they have said for quite sometime. We have the technology to go fast; provide us with the venues to handle it or harness the technology.
The IRL buggies and fendered jobbies do okay on these tracks, well, the IRL thing last night didn't do too hot, but the CART cars are to much to coral on these tight ovals. Put them back on the road courses they shine on. Old Clunker |

Absolutely agree. These cars don't belong on fast ovals any more than Formula One cars do. Champ Cars needs to stop trying to be all things to all people and do what it does best!

let's not be too hasty in want in wanting to kill CART racing on superspeedways.
if my knowledge of American open wheel racing serves me right, back in the USAC days champcars raced exclusively on ovals. superspeedways are just too big a part of American racing tradition. and isn't CART's variety and versatility one of its strengths? besides, we all want to see full-blooded champcars return to the Indy 500 don't we? ovals, fix'em but don't get rid of them. |

My opinion is that Champ Cars should continue to run on ovals, while I am a little more concerned about their suitability for running on superspeedways (this view is very much coloured by what happened at Fontana in 99, I'll admit ).
I will agree with torsion_bar that the variety and versatility of CART are some of the series' greatest strengths. From what I've read about TMS and the problems the drivers experienced there, the cancellation of that race was the only sensible thing to do though. |
