Steve Carter should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Slotcars: 1/32 slotcars

I havent seen a thread for it but does anyone collect 'scalextric' 1/32 cars - various brands. I just started around 18 months ago (reliving youth I guess) but have just over 75 mainly classic GP, Sports, Touring, Can Am etc - Id be interested to see how many across the forums are into the same hobby - come on guys there just smaller versions of what we can't afford - no need to be embarrased!

I've got a few but it's not really a "look at and keep nice" collection, it's very much a "run 'em" collection

4 Focus WRC's
2 Impreza WRC's

Corrolla WRC
206 WRC
2 Escort Cosworth
306 maxi
3 RS200's

TVR 400R
Porsche 911 GT3
DTM Astra coupe
DTM Mercedes C class
Ford GT40
Mini Clubman
BMW Mini
Audi TT

Mclaren MP something or other (Kimi)
Arrows A22
Jaguar R1?
Williams FW23
Sauber ??
Stewart ??
Jordan 197
Renault R23

Hello

I first got into slot car racing like a lot of "older" blokes in the 60's, gave it all up in the early 70's, started to get back into it in the mid 90's with Artin 1/43 scale and finally went full time into 1/32 scale about three years ago.

Like you say Steve Carter

and I'm certainly not. In fact it blends my passionate interest in motor racing and model making together perfectly. My top car at the moment is the Spirit Rollcentre Dallara LMP which has just swept the standard LMP class at the club I race at.

By the way if you haven't found it already look up www.slotforum.com.

We have one, which is a Vic Elford Porsche, however it's displayed rather than being used.

(BertMk2 - any chance of a pic of your track? Sounds impressive - may be good grounds for another thread!).

Wow good response guys and gals - I'm sure theres a lot of us out there who are into the hobby - these are just a few of mine - Im tending to collect the cars of the time as I grew up and read about them so they will be heavily weighted to the late 50s through to late 70s.

That slotcar forum is new to me Nick - looks great - my local supplier is www.armchairracer.com.au the guy Jim has a brillian shop and obviously a passion for what he does. A couple of motor sport/motoring journo friends have been known to frequent the establishment instead of the usual business lunch - much more fun and business still gets done.

It's not that impressive at the moment - it's all boxed up

Most of the cars are ebay purchases although I have been given quite a few by people I know who were getting rid of their sets (that's where a lot of the track came from too). The little 'un mainly uses the GT40 and the Focus's (Foci?) - the GT40 was a christmas present for him and the Focus's don't have much that can fall off! He hasn't got the Batmobile yet as it's a present for his birthday this week.

That would be Leeds Castle, that's about 10 minutes from home Brands is also very convenient
