Looks like I've cocked up with the volunteering (or the Post Office havegone on strike again), so I've not recieved any passes for tomorrow. Can someone let me know the details for signing on times etc.

I'm in the same position, so will assume it's the same as last week @ Silverstone. Sign on was from 14-30.

This may sonund a tad of a palavar! But Im getting dropped off at the main entrance to the curcuit, and as sign on is at the craner suites its a bit of a treck if I remember rightly (Not familiar with the track), as I am a assembly marshal.
Does anyone know a shortcut to the suites or could I drop a text to Alan to let him know that I am there?
Or if I see Alf, I could get a lift up 2 the suites with him?

Thanks
Chris.

(Sorry, spelling is a issue, its late)

Alan - It may be the former, I wasn't expecting you but have now added you to the signing on sheet.

Dave - Sorry, it looks like HQ sent out the tickets and I hadn't given them your name.

Chris - If you can get dropped off at the Paddock Gate then go striaght to the Assembly area, for about 3.15pm, and I'll get the signing on sheet to you there. If you've got time then you could go to Race Control first. Otherwise wait at the Main Gate/Coppice Tunnel area for a lift. Text if you have a problem.

Oops, sorry! In which case you'd better add me to the Silverstone list for later in the month as well then!

I can't do a mid-week meeting, but I would be interested to know how well manned they are.

Another cracking meeting, well done to everyone from 'upstairs'

Can't wait for Silverstone in 3 weeks.

For Donington yesterday all the usual posts were at least double-manned, usual circuit vehicles (except for there being two Rescue Units and an FD car, rather than three units), snatch tractors at the key locations, and all comms via the radio system. Would have been nice with more on the bank, but we're all used to multitasking at most circuits now I suspect.

As for the racing, absolutely cracking - the handicappers were just about spot on (or would have been if the MR2 hadn't gone bouncing down the armco to bring out the one red flag of the day). Max5's and Minis were very interesting through the chicane. Shame more classics couldn't have come out to play.

Good fun though, and looking forward to Silverstone!

Very thin but no worse than many Donington meetings.

Word on the street (ok Race Control) is, that next year they're looking at 9 events over a 3 month period circuits to be negiotiated.

They are pushing it by doing that I think. I would still have a go though. But that is a lot of days off.

I think one of the plans is to spread it around the country more. No doubt they'll be some silly bug...s who'll follow it around (me included).

But where else could it go Dave?
As far as I am aware, the likes of Oulton, Cadwell, Anglesey, Croft, Mallory, Combe & Brands all have curfews.

That leaves, Snett (Which would be good), Silverstone & Donington again.
I don't know about Knockhill, Thurxton & Lydden.

I hope it does get around a bit more next year though!

Curfews can be flexible, as when, if, I find out more I'll post it. Don't hold your breath though!

Brands curfew is during the week is 8pm I know that, so if things could be squeezed up it might be able to be run there.

It sounds like these few meetings are going to do well...not sure if they should be extending it to quite so many though.

I mean where are they going to get more marshals from? I enjoyed the meeting but I cannot possibly get the time off and to do fridays for big events etc.

Combe and Thruxton have curfews which won't be flexible (Combe would argue that they don't need Powernights to bring in the crowds). Unlike most events, I suspect that spectator numbers are critical to the financial success of such meetings so I wouldn't have thought that they would stray too far from the circuits with decent catchments. Perhaps scrub Cadwell, Anglesey, Snetts, and Lydden for that reason.

Marshals will always turn up to support motorsport, I doubt it'll be a huge concern to the organisers..

An interesting point is that Donington ran with those cars under "quiet" conditions. Believe me those noise limits are monitored not only by local ****-***** but by the local authority.

So Donington did not use up one of its regulated "quiet" days and perhaps some curfews are different for "quiet" days?

Regards

Jim

The marshalls on Thursday's event were supplemented by circuit staff from all links of the Donington Park food chain. Hence my presence
