Aston Martin Asia series
http://www.newspress.co.uk/LINKS/54238ast/index.html
A new Aston Martin Asia racing series is born. All competitors will use the N24 race car. 18 entries expected in year 1 and races will support Asian F1 Grands Prix, including Singapore. Do you guys see it as a direct competition with Porsche Carrera Cup Asia? |

Probably not a competitor to the Porsche Carerra cup but an alternative for the non-Porsche fans out there. And for some of us that think the AM's have just beautiful lines

Just another one-make series. There are lots of them out there. Porsche is hardly the only one.

A one make series is something to earn money with. Money that supports other racing programmes. And we will have more GT4/GT3 out there in the future. |

No arguement there, I support the creation of the series. Was just saying it's not going to really affect any other one-make series.
Isn't there an unofficial Ferrari Challenge in Asia? |

Just learnt that the winning driver in AM Asia will get a drive in FIA GT4 in 2009.
To answer The359, there is not an unofficial Ferrari Challenge in Asia. There is the Asia Supercar Challenge. They allow Porsches, Ferraris and many others to race. |

The GT3 Cup cars were subvised over years, maybe in these days when the Cups cars are assembled in production lines they don’t loose money, but they also don’t earn money with it. They are really good in the business, but if we go back to topic, they will not earn money with their one make series if they run at F1 events due to the $ which Bernie likes to see. Bernie will not Porsche to run the Supercup at F1 events.. They built each season 230+ Cups cars for the 10 or so Cup worldwide, but think about what the promotion of these events cost. |

The promised Aston Martin Asia Cup did not materialize at Zhuhai.
So I guess it has failed to find enough competitors in the end. |
