Smokey Retirement should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Paul Morris

After listening to the V8 Insiders podcast last night, Paul Morris all but admitted that he intentionally took out Nick Percat, and was laughing about it. Surely the officials should treat him like they did Paul Romano all those years ago when he intentionally took took out Rodney Forbes (I think it was Forbes), and cancel his CAMS licence, never allowed to race again.

Surely, after all these years of threatening to "fix up" people and his obvious lack of respect for anyone out there, and the officials (he intentionally disregarded the black flag on Sunday and admitted he did to get even), he needs to be gone from the sport.

Not arguing your basic point - if Morris did that deliberately then he needs the book thrown in his general direction.

Just wanted to point out that Paul Romano didn't have his licence removed never to race again - he was suspended from memory and went off to do other things - nearly made a comeback in another category a couple of years ago but it wasn't the lack of a licence that stopped him.

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Saw the incident on the weekend (havent really seen the footage anywhere apart from at the track)

It was pretty clear that it was deliberate and the whole crowd was waiting for it and it had been well talked up by the commentators.

The reall issue from my point of view was that after the "tap", he turned around 180 and was facing the wrong way on the racing line, cars were spearing left and right to avoid him and it was very lucky we didnt get a nose to nose incident.

This alone in my book is the reason he should have the boook thrown at him, i suggest a 6 month suspension from the track (which by my maths takes him out of Bathurst)

Theer a reason he's called the dirty dangerous dude

ROFL, looking at the Romano/Forbes incident, at the end, look what comes up as a recommendation:

titled "Paul Morris can't drive"

While you are at it, all you experts may as well blame him for the
accident at Oran Park when Mark Larkham hit him.

Supercars need a couple of people like Morris, as in Nascar, you spin me today, expect the same back soon, but the powers to be here penalise anyone that looks sideways at anyone else. What boring crap you people are forced to watch.

do we need him though spy? why?

he has no real personality that draws people to him, he has money, but he costs others more money

he has constantly shown himself to be close to the missing link

if he went away tomorrow, the series would quickly move on

At which point did he go from sitting in car holding his helmet while some one hits it(lol) to the supercar tough guy. Tony Longhurst must walk around looking over his shoulder waiting for his payback.

About the time total baloney tony decided it was time little dude played with the big boys.

I've been saying for years that there needs to be some definition of what's acceptable and what's not. That definition needs to be backed up with some stiff penalties, including suspension, but the nancies running the show don't have the stones.

As was said V8SC could easily move on and no one would realise Morris was gone. Maybe a Bathurst / Enduros ban or a loss of competition licence until the end of the season might wake him up and give him the reality check he needs..

What, so because Morris admited to intentionally taking out a competitor. We should blame him for running up the back of Larry's stalled car, leaving him stranded on the grid and Larkham nowhere to go?
Um... okay.

So you find motorsport entertaining because some talentless clown drives around deliberately taking out other competitors?

Maybe 'WWE Smackdown' would be more to your liking?

The thing about Morris is that he has always been very critical of other people crashing or having issues, but he has a LONG history of massive accidents and some mighty impressive ones too.

I think the one deal that ticked me off about him was a few years ago that one journeyman driver crashed at Bathurst(Alan Gurr?, sorry can't remember) and Morris made this blank statement that his career was done. I thought that was a very arrogant and nasty thing to say, especially considering morris's record as a driver.

Well there is one positive thing out of this thread,
while you are all having a go at Paul Morris, at least
you are leaving Rick Kelly alone.

OK but at least the incident at Phillip Island with Lowndes was not

Now that Lowndes and 888 are on the red side and Rick is no longer part of the WP empire. I'm tipping alot of punters have changed their view of that incident!

While both Morris and Rick have had their fair share of accidents involving and caused by them, at least Rick has talent. His trophy cabinet can back that up.

At least with Morris, it doesn't matter if your red or blue. Everyone thinks he's a ****.

Anyone care to find a rule in the CAMS manual, or the VESA REC document that will allow the powers that be to relieve Mr Morris of his CAMS racing licence, his CAMS entrant's licence and/or his VESA Racing Entitlement Contract?

Have fun trying.. because I am not sure you can...

There are actually several that cover deliberate actions like those alleged but proving deliberate is not that straightforward. Not at all hard to find them.

I guess if TEGA cameras are fitted to the Fujitsu series cars then the evidence COULD be damning. There are several rules in both the VESA Ops Manual that could be used if this was the case but ultimately the power to suspend or remove a licence rests with CAMS, and they also have rules that could be applied IF there is enough evidence.

There are also clauses in the REC re poor behaviour, not being a suitable person etc but given PMM's length of time with a licence, PM's position on the board etc I would imagine that there would be some reluctance to trigger these clauses, other than perhaps letting the team know that such alleged behaviour needs to stop.

what does he supply to V8S?

in the AFL and the NRL if a team misbehaves the penalties have been harsh (ask the Storm)
