V8STr2 ruapuna
A few interesting points for the up coming round
Interesting to see if pederson can stay quick at ruapuna they weren't up the front for the enduros? Who will Tasman have driving? Will Edgell show more pace? Will Scotty Mac begin his come back? |

will there be a team assisted brake failure that demands a full safety review of the track ??
will Murf get another clean sweep ? will Shane use run-off areas as a way of not needing to slow down so much for corners?? |

If we have the same sort of weather, and the track is clean, We should see very similar times to last weekend. IE. Low 1.22's, possibly even a high 1.21.
The cars are inevitably getting faster because the Teams are building on what they already know what works, and spending more time finding speed in the driver. I expect Scott McLaughlin to be at the pointy end along with Shane, however it would not surprise me to see 5, may be six drivers within a tenth or so of each other at Powerbuilt raceway. |

At Manfield a F5000 did 1:01, Formula Pacific (Roberto Moreno) did 1:05 and I think Supertourers did a 1:08? The F5000 time was done in the 70's when the track was very basic by Grahame Lawrence. The new smooth track and newer F5000's are a few seconds slower |

I think lap records set either during qualifying or a race should count. The Forula Holdens were quite the thing for a while weren't they? Wonder where they all are now, I know we do see a couple at the Historic meets.

The problem seems to be that many, many failed single seater formula cars just disappear and far from being a massive Formula Libre or Super Historics grid, at most neetings they are lucky to round up 10 cars. I wonder why? Do they no longer conform to MSNZ safety regs? Are they all exported? Are they all in museums or private collections?
I cringe every time they come up with a new single seater formula and now they are talking about replacing the TRS cars with a new model. What then happens to the existing cars, as they are far too new to be at a historic meeting? |

Buy one now and stick it in your shed for another 30 - 35 years as they will be as rare as a is F5000 now. |

If TRS gets replaced the formula needs to have some more horsepower and be a bit more spectacular. |

From memory most of the Formula Holdens came from Aus did the series and went back. I think they were mainly run by Aussie teams.

I read somewhere recently, but can't remember where, that the uptake to that point was 700 tickets.

They've visited 2 primary schools and have handed out 700 family passes as of yesterday according to their Facebook page. So say they may give another 100 away today and tomorrow, I guess a family pass would involve 2-3 people so that could mean another 1500-2000 people there, which always looks good, and a few more young fans to boot.

Down to low 1.23's i see for P2.
Its quite concievable they could crack in to the 22's this time round. Last years pole lap was a 1.23.7 by Coulthard. These cars are certainly faster than last year for sure. |
