STCC: Honda team victim for sabotage?

Sabotage for Honda?
STCC 19/05/03

Was the Honda team victim for sabotage at Mantorp? Tomas Engström was petrified when he found out that the fuel in his Civic was mixed out with water. "It was terrible large amounts. Condensation can at least be excluded," Tomas said. Tomas had a relatively good weekend. He qualified fourth and was right behind "Flash" and Ekblom in the first race. "I noticed that they had burned it all at the end so we were really fired up for the closing longer race."

But Tomas only made it to the first corner when his engine died, and during the night the Honda team found water in the fuel. "We kept the fuel tanks in the tent, they should've been locked up in the trailer. But we have never suffered from this before or heard anything of it before. Not at our level, it has happened once or twice in carting," Tomas said. The engine is currently on its way for service.

"Water is not good, the only positive thing is that the engine was to be retuned now anyway." But was it really sabotage from one of the competitors? "Sabotage, no we can't believe in that. More likely a prank from someone who doesn't understand what is all about."

Do fellow members think that the STCC Honda was sabotaged. While evidence seems to suggest so, do you think that fellow STCC competitors would stoop so low? Or perhaps it was just a crazy fan? And why just Honda? Why not a few more teams?

Good qeustionas... Hmm, remember the Hockenheim-F1-GP in 2000? As a former Mercedes- workman from France walked over the track? He had been kicked out of Mercedes France a few weeks before this GP. So, why is it impossible a former Honda Sweden member did a sabotage?

At Bathurst 1983 Frank Gardner claimed the JPS BMW 635Csi he was running was the victim of sabotage, metal filings in the fuel tank was diagnosed as the culprit... they never found the culprits

The very same team at Bathurst in 1987 had another fuel problem, this time water in the fuel... a substantial amount, having left some fuel drums out in the weather at some stage, condensation and temperature change caused an unwanted amount of water in the fuel come practice day. They drained everything and fixed it but still delayed the team

Perhaps this could have been the case with the STCC Honda team as well?

Maybe...

Wasn't it mister Engström who complained week ago about Audis and too small minimum weight they have (as we saw this weekend - almost audi 1-2-3 in race 2)...
