Did we get a preview last Sunday of the kind of grid we'll see in 2008 under the FIA's F1?

others???? that depends on what concessions might be made to the GPWC aligned teams.

Have Ferrari said that they can only supply 2 teams (including themselves)? Didn't they once supply Ferrari, Sauber and Prost?

Not confirmed.

There may well be some new teams, but I'm pretty sure all the current teams will be racing in the same series.

They'll be in the same series, or else not in operation. I totally agree that it is either going to be GPWC or F1, having both is simply not ever going to happen.

One just has to hope it isn't GPWC.......nothing would ever decided........

Why?

As far as I know, Marlboro is leaving F1 this year.
Remember that McLaren stopped using red after Marlboro had left them.

How many new red-coloured sponsors do you expect to enter F1?

Yes, I think Ferrari is going to use their own colour again if Marlboro is leaving. Ferarri's colour is pink, isn't it?

GPWC just seems to be being used as a bargaining tool. The teams are even starting to show interest in the new FIA regs so cant really see a completely independent series being started

) has it that should Renault win the constructors this season, they will pull the plug at the end of 2006.

Phillip Morris (Marlboro) is likely to carry on sponsering Ferrari. The logo's will stay the same, but Smoking Kills etc is likely to replace the Marlboro name.

Seriously though, the GPWC may come to fruition unless the FIA has a stop change from the top. It has been too discredited IMHO.

if the split does happen watch the grid be made up teams from the GP2 being promoted. like it was in the 60-70s with the all the cars being powered by fords except Ferrari. this time just with Renault engines.

I find it difficult to believe that any of the teams will sign up to an agreement that puts them second fiddle to Ferrari.

IIRC, Ferrari's own colour is a darker version of red.

Ferrari's current red colour is about the same red that was used by McLaren when they were sponsored by Marlboro.

Yea - scarlet's the traditional Ferrari colour, which will hopefully return once Marlboro go.

It went insanely flourescent orange in 1997, for better TV image or something they reckoned.....they toned it down it a bit in future years, but for sure it used to be quite a bit darker.

A return would be very nice.

However, I heard that, if fact, yellow is their real traditional colour.....that got taken over by red due its increased popularity (either that or some obscure story!).

Back to point, the way that the manufacturers are getting more and more control over the 'teams' either by buying someone out or simply emtering their own factory effort we will end up with oe of 2 outcomes:

1/ FIA continued series similar to what it is now or,

2/ The GPWC or whatever it's called now which will be like a single seater version of the DTM, just wait and see!!

BMW, Toyota, Honda, Ferrari and Renault are all 'self run' and before too long Ron will sell out to Mercedes....i think this is the progresson the maunfacturers are hoping for to get rid of BC and the 'pesky' old fashioned garagistes element.

Whatever the case there will be much more than 20 odd cars turning up at a meeting, just depends on how many are allowed to race!

If it stays FIA then as we are now, with Minardi sold out to GM or Audi or Porsche?

New teams

ART/Todt/Schumacher
BCN (has been reported)
Some Middle eastern combo
Possibly one or 2 more stepping up from GP2 (i'd like to see Sears managing an F1 outfit at some point)

Can anyone think of any other outstanding possibles?
