Paul Lomax recently mentioned the charity day at Snetterton where you could make a contribution, and get a ride in a race car around the track.
Any more information for us on this ? Are you and Rick still planning on going ? When is it ? What is the necessary contribution to get a run ? |

I emailed Mr Pearson and this is wot he replied:
Invader, Really know very little about it, but it is run each year so you could ask Snett. Basically, people show up, donate a £5 or so to Charidee and then pile into the PASSENGER seat of the car of their choice and get the willys scared out of them around Snett. Rick Haven't contacted Snetterton yet....I suppose that'll be my job then |

Looks like it Dave - it's about time you did something around here anyway
FIVE POUNDS ? FIVE POUNDS ?! Is that all ? I think that maybe a few dozen laps might be on the cards then |

There's an easy solution to a busy diary - leave it at home to carry on being busy, and you go and do your own thing...

Hi
The charity day clashes with a round of the Clio Winter Series and I believe that Rick's car will probably be being used in that. However, both of us are planning to use my car.(One drives whilst the other uses the defribulator!) We're working out whether to do the corporate day on the Saturday or the public day on the Sunday. Unfortunately I think the Rickster was somewhat optomistic with the £5 mentioned - its rumoured to be more like £20-£100 on the Sunday (hence the idea of running on the Corporate day instead). No doubt Rick will soon let you know what he's found out. cheers Paul |

WILL SCARE FOR BEER!
OK, details are sketchy but coming through... Date is Saturday, 18th November Venue: The Icy Wastes (also known as Snetterton) Waiting to hear the cost and whether my car is going to Pembrey for the Winter Series but the cost to our guests will be zero, yes £0! We'll cover the costs I would imagine. At least 1 ActiveShop Clio will be there with Paul and yours truly doling out circuit rides, what I'm going to need to know is who's feeling brave? We will probably need to have a sensible limit on numbers (assuming demand is greater than 3 people) but I'll worry about that after I know how many cars we'll have there... Ho Ho Ho Ho! Rick, i'd definately be up for it - IF I can get the time away. For reasons which i'd rather not discuss in such a public forum, but of which some people here are already aware, time away is going to be near on impossible in the next year or so. If I can, I will. But I doubt you'd miss me anyway

Rick - have you got a tel number for the organisors?
I did this last year. It's in aid of the kiddies hospital and heart foundation. I can't put a 2nd seat in my Talbot as the battery and fire extinguisher are in the way so I asked whether I could use my road car. They said yup and stuck me in the Supercar Sessions. So my 5 litre TVR Griffith was in with F355's, DB7's, Evo's and assorted exotic motors. They put a price tag of £40 for 3 laps (which I think is a tad high) and I spent the Sat and Sun hairing around Snett scaring folks silly. I've used my Tiv on the track quite a few times and Snett is my local so I can welly it when needed. 3 spins in 2 days was my total Interesting to note that not one car could out-sprint the Tiv on the Revett straight (150mph on the clock before the 200 yard braking point) but 2 cars could outbrake me and take Coram quicker - the F355 and a Porsche GT3. I'd do it again this year if I had the organisors number.... Happy to give rides to 10-tenths folks if I do. Cheers Andrew http://www.tintinracing.com |

I'd love to do the Snet charity day also, though I cant see most of my entourage forking out 40 quid a hit though. My road car's a poxy cavalier so I'd be moving the battery & extinguisher to get a seat in there.
Sean http://www.sunbeam73.co.uk ps are you doing snet on 15th andrew? |

Guys,
The option is the corporate day on the Saturday, the punters don't have to pay, you have to donate £150/hour though... The guys name is Paul Palmer, to book, call him on 01953 681441 Be interested what lap time you got out of it round Snett, for a guide my pole this year was a 1:18.3 Cheers RickP:Clio33 |

1:18 !! You're having a laugh aren't you??
I'm lucky to break the 1:32 barrier although I know that Sean C holds the class D lap record in his Sunbeam with a 1:28omething. A 1:18 in Group1 would have put you pole 5 seconds ahead of the leading 5.3 Jag XJS!! In the Tiv I have no idea of lap times, but I wouldn't be surprised to find they were similiar or slower than the Sunbeam. The Griffith has more power than grip and as a road car the suspension is too soft for Coram. Cheers for the number and I'll call Paul tonight. If he says yes I'll be there both Sat and Sun. You can buy laps in the Supercars both days - there's no corporate option. Sean - The £40 was for the "Supercars", the price of laps in racecars varied according to the type of car. £10 was the minimum and I reckon that a Sunbeam probably wouldn't be classed much more than that. I've just entered for Snett on the 15th Oct - assuming I get my other engine in, running and rolling roaded before the Sunday... |

Okay folks, after calling Paul I'll be there on both the Sat and Sun in the "Supercar Sessions".
I'll be in the burgundy TVR Griffith 500 with reg plate 28 AG. Come over and say hi or donate to charity for a ride. |

Just thought I'd drag this one back up to the top because it's getting nearer the date when innocent ten-tenths regulars will have the opportunity to have the wits scared out of them at Snetterton by our resident Clio racers (amongst others).

I /hope/ to be there... all depends on a decision which I intend to make this weekend. Many of you will know what this is about, and if you don't, then don't worry...
