I couldn't find a thread to put this, so started a new one....... looks like we can forget a Peugeot LMP1 effort.......PSA have just been accused of Diesl-gate in France on 2 million cars, fines already estimated at 5 Billion......heavy stuff

I read that this morning. Doesn't look good for them at all. Unless the ACO can convince them that it'll improve their image (like cheap F-E is used for) I don't expect any Peugeot lmp1. DSC has a (different) story on their entry as well.

This should really be in ACO if we're going to continue with this non-conversation.

Seeing the 908 at Spa recently made me think-Peugeot Sport would be running these cars wouldn't they? Its a complex factory built prototype and the factory would still have the experience and know how to run these cars-for a price that is.

They took the cheap alternative. Like VAG, I think their diesel scandal is going to hurt them and any expenditure like an lmp1 program will not be approved. Shame

Oh lets allow these jokers to help draft the new rules, that way it will be doubly embarrassing when they decide not to join.

The new rules are scrapped. Hopefully the new ones will be close to the current ones without the reliance of hybrid cars. That's the indication so far! I hope they aren't waiting for any manufacturer. Do they are now and build up the small teams then see if manufacturers are interested.

They're choosing rallycross over LMP1 as much as I choose meatloaf over wagyu beef on a daily basis. With over 1 billion in penalties looming, they quite simply can't afford it...so they do something cheap that makes it look like a choice. The WRX programme probably costs 1/20 of what an LMP1 effort would cost.
Let's face it, what killed LMP1 wasn't the ACO or a set of rules but Dieselgate. It was all built on a hollow foundation without the ACO even knowing about these underlying problems. Not their fault this time around. |

I agree. Probably a fraction of the cost of their Dakar program also, which they're dropping.

Very good interpretation of Peugeot of a virtual prototype hybrid for the game Gran Turismo. The car seems to have front engine, 825kg and 750 HP.
