Tossed up between Albon and George.
Both gained more places than the rest of the field, used what they had to the max. Gave it to George although Albon did masterfully with what he had. |

George, who made his own luck, basically calling his own strategy, and once again got the maximum out of an ordinary car. Kudos to Albon.

George for me - close between him & several others, rode his luck a bit but then, that is how the world turns sometimes. Made it work and maintained his consistency in results - looked unlikely based on the grid but he made it work.

Could have voted for teh winner of the race like I have done almost every race this season, but I went for Russell. Made the alternative staregy work, and had to make some tidy passes enroute.
Could have voted for Albon too - he is driving very well. |

I have to give it to Max, great drive, despite the constant pressure from Charles

Max did well, as did Charles. Checo and Sainz did as expected.
Further down, I was ready to give the point to a surprisingly highly placed Bottas, but not only did he put the car in the wall before the race, he almost did it in the race as well. No cookie. Albon did well, again, and I was quite happy to see him haul in some points again. I liked the way Alonso was driving, in theory, but too much of his race smells of desperation. He looks frustrated and he did some bad calls. Then there's the power duo of Lewis and George. A dog of a car, and they manage to put it up there. George did have some luck, but you get to make your luck as well. I voted for George. |

George for me too. I'm convinced he'd be right up there if the car was on a par with RBR and Ferrari. Max did what Max does. He did it very well, but we really expect that.

George for me. Great recovery drive and really made the most of an ambitious strategy. Was there a bit of luck involved? Sure, but he made his own luck.
Max a very close second for taking charge of the race in only 10 laps. |

I seem to be in the minority: I gave it to Chas Leclerc. Fair enough, he got beaten by Verstappen but only just, and he's a much nicer bloke.
It was great to see George Russell pull a result from a disastrous qually, but it did require a big dose of luck, even if it was something the team were planning (hoping?) for in the circumstances. Nice to see Albon getting a respectable result too. |

On Albon's last point-scoring occasion, I wasn't quite sold, because I credited a lot to Williams strategy, running the hard for most the race. This time, I will award him DOTGP. He had a lot of places between him and his teammate.
Bottas was on for it until the mistake. Massive gap to Zhou, though. Russell was again magnificent and Hamilton will be worried. If he gets a winning car again, he'll know it could be his team mate getting the lion's share of the victories. However, today he was aided by the VSC. In fairness, the strategy was his call and he was wise to hope for some kind of safety car. Hamilton kind of called out his team a bit on the strategy side and claimed he wasn't in a position to make those decisions, but we've seen him call strategy before. He's definitely not in the 'rattled' category yet, but he has not had this kind of intra-team pressure for a while. Leclerc was fantastic but just couldn't make it work on Verstapppen, who was brilliant. Sainz's defense versus Pérez was superb. Oh dear, re: Schumacher. He had the measure of Magnussen on the whole, but some dodgy racecraft. So, Albon for me. Last edited by Born Racer; 10 May 2022 at 16:37. |

Agree with you on pretty much all of the BR.
Russell just seems more'up for it' than Lewis at present so it will be very interesting how this develops. |

Putting on my amateur psychologists hat for a moment, I'd say running in the top half of a GP field is exciting for George (even if it's less than he was hoping for). Being outside the top three is a downer for Lewis. This season could be the making of George and the downfall of Lewis.
