mjolnir should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Eligibility to score points before a percentage of GP laps is completed

Wasn't there a provision where a driver that had not completed a certain percentage of total laps in a GP was ineligible to score WC points even if he was in a points scoring position?

What percentage was it and is it still in effect? (I checked out the FIA regs and they don't seem to have it...)

1996 Monaco is a good example of this. People were too far behind to be classified, as such, but all down to sixth got WC points.

A race has to get to 75% to be declared a full race with full posts.

IIRC a driver has to complete 90% of the distance to be classified.

At Monaco '96 Frentzen, Salo, Hakkinen and Irvine were classed as finishers and the first three claimed their points even though they finished the afternoon with their cars in various states of disrepair. The reason for this is that all four drivers had completed the minimum of 90% of the winner's distance and so technically finished the race. This explains why at Indianapolis in 2005, Jarno Trulli and Kimi Raikkonen was classified as being in 7th and 8th positions at the end of the race, but because they didn't start they obviously failed to meet the 90% figure.

Thank kipper, I thought Hakkinen was further behind, but not so.

Tthe rule about classification after 90% is 45.2.

The 2 laps to 75% race distance rule is 6.4.

Monaco 1996 is the last race in which less than 8 cars were running at the end, although only 6 scored points back then.

Apart from Indy 2005, where only the top six scored points (although top eight positions has points on offer).

And Monaco 1966 had only 4 classified finishers. Bob Bondurant was 4th and last, scoring the only points of his career.
