there are a few good sites
for some reason the results section of the official site only goes back to 95
http://www.toca-tour.com/

very good general history and some reviews of the years.
http://www.supertouring.co.uk/

has a good archive results section
http://www.btccpages.com/

pretty good too..
http://www.redshoes-racing.com/

short of that review videos are available through duke back to 91, depends how far back you're interested in.

There arent many books out as far as i can tell that deal with btcc history.

I'm surprised no-ones tackled that one- given the popularity of the series, particularly from the late 80's onwards, I'd have expected there would be pretty good sales potential for something like that- mind you, to tell the full story back to 1958, it would be a big task, and to really do it justice you'd end up with a pretty big- and expensive- book.

I have recently bought "DTM - die Story", which is a comprehensive review of the DTM from the start of the championship to the end of 2003. It's a shame there isn't an English translation, it's such a good quality book.

It cost me £17 to buy from Germany (including P+P on Amazon). And it's about the size of an Autocourse annual! Well worth the money!

As a certain BTCC team boss was keen on saying: "watch this space!" For the time being I would strongly recommend www.supertouring.co.uk

I did a lot of research when writing the history for my site, but it is by no means the whole or complete story.

Ford In Touring Car Racing is a good book, but heavily biased (obviously) and is not cronological so takes some reading. Also check out the two touring car books that are available, both have a reasonable amount of info, but do not always agree. (often available on ebay very cheaply).

The BTCC is screaming out for a book to be written about it, but as someone has already suggested, it will be a big book!

Group 1 at Brands 1982. Spice leads Allam (SD1), Lovett (SD1), Rad Dougall (SD1), and Rouse (Capri). I think its Leech in the black SD1. My second season marshalling and the last of Capri domination. (...awaits Pete Mallett's retort!!)

The black SD1 definitely looks like Dennis Leech's car

If you look closely Leech appears to be running with a Patrick Motorsport sunstrip. I always thought he was totally independant. Maybe PMG bunged him a wedge just for this GP support race.

Anuauto has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
From the Group 5 era. BTCC round at the Motor Show 200 Brands F2 meeting October 1966.

Looks like Roy Pierpoint leading Sir Gwainne Bailey, a couple of works Minis, Ray Calcutt and John Fitzpatrick to me, but then my race programme for this meeting is in the loft at present.
