Tinted Visors

Has anyone had problems getting tinted visors from Motorbike shops in the UK? I tried to get one for My Lazer Falcon about a month ago and was told there now illegal? (Only on the roads, though although they had some they could not sell them becuase obviously anyone could say i need it for racing) And i was advised to look on the internet to get them as thats the only way to do it now?

Has anyone else found this a problem recently and know of any web sites where i can get a visor without braking the bank?

Re: Tinted Visors

Well I use a thin tinted material that my bus driver gave to me that he uses to tint his bus windows.
You have to stick it on the inside with washing up liquid and then smooth the creases out.

It's creap and practical.

^^ there's a site, but maybe you've already seen it?

Certain types of visors (Iradium being one, I think) have been illegal on the road for years.

The people you went to ask about them sound like idiots. I'd of thought that they'd be willing to sell one to you with an understanding that they are illegal on the road. Otherwise they've got a batch of wisors which they are unwilling to sell, which is pointless :S

However, maybe it's because you're under 16 that they wouldnt sell it to you.

i couple of season's ago when i tried buying a tinted visor for when i used a motorcycle crash helmet, the reason which they gave me is, that people are still using the tinted/dark visors while its is dark. Obviously that is not a good idea but people were still doing it and getting hurt and that is why they became illegal (or thats what the guy told me)

For what it's worth, I can recommend the Offshore Motorcyle Parts website mentioned by Alex above.

I had the same problem as Speedy King, that the government don't trust people to make sure they can see when riding a bike, so couldn't get a replacement black visor for my lid. Ordered from the OMP website last week and received the visor four days later.

Even better, because the company is based in Guernsey, the tax man doesn't get a cut, meaning that the visor was about £25 cheaper (incl. P&P) than the one I bought in the UK a few years ago!

I got a couple of iridium visors with my new helmet at the kart show and they seem, even with anti-fog stuff, *****es for steaming up.

I still use an anti-mist strip with my tinted visor. Dosent seem to mist up much even though i desperately need to replace the anti-mist strip as it's alomost 2 years old and are ment to be replaced every 10 or so months.
