Its sad to see a tyre manufacturer go, but maybe the change will do f1 good.
I'd prefer two see 2 battling on track like we had a few years ago but i doubt that'll happen with the current economic climate. Maybe Avon will put in a bid? That would be good |

I hope Pirelli come back. It would be nice to see a bit more Italian incompetance in F1 again

I guess the fact I've bought 4 sets of Bridgestone tyres over the past few years, (dumping Pirelli, Yokohama and Michelin in the process) because of their involvement with F1 didn't matter much to them.
Hopefully the replacement WON'T be Michelin! |

PLEAAASSEEEE let it be Good Year! I still have my tiny model of Damon's Williams from whichever year it was with those Good Year tyres on... as far as I am concerned they are the tyres of champions!

What is it with Japanese companies closing the barn door after the horse has bolted? First Honda quits, sure it saved them 2010's budget and beyond, but really the economy is starting to recover and they have no place in F1. If they want back in how much more will it cost them. So by 2011 when the economy is growing again, and Bridgestone is out, who will look like the fool?

Apparently the Chinese tyre manufacturer 'Fu Kin Flat' has put in a bid for the 2011 season and beyond.
Update: 'Sli Ping Long' have also entered the fray. Last edited by Marbot; 2 Nov 2009 at 14:40. |

This is a potential blow to the series. They surely will find a new supplier because of all the prestige it brings to be the "official tyre of Formula 1". But who actually is "they"? Is it Bernie's FOM, is it FOTA, who is it that must look for fresh rubber now for 2011?
Here's hoping that one manufacturer will deliver to all teams. No more tyre wars please, otherwise only two teams can win races. |

I think that it's Bernie who has to 'woo' another tyre supplier into F1 (although the FIA will put it out to tender). It could possibly be one of the lesser known brands such as Kumho.

The question is who has the experience to provide Formula One Tyres ? also i don't suppose BE will be offering a cut price deal to anyone. Goodyear and Michelin are hardly likely to be queueing up after the way they were treated in the past.

Michelin left because they did not want to be the sole supplier, they saw no point in racing against themselves.
Goodyear wont be back after the way they were treated. I cannot think of a major single seater championship running on Pirelli tyres. I think a far east supplier will pop up, Kumho possibly. |

at least it gives FIA enough of a warning and it gives them a year to sort out a new tyre supplier

I'd like to see someone a bit different take over the supply. Or perhaps it could even be someone more obvious like Avon or Dunlop? |

Years ago, not F1 I know but the championship I used to run got a reasonable sponsorship deal from Falken Tyres (Japanese) and so reasonable we actualy gave guys a bit of grid money and had a prize fund then out the blue they pulled the plug on us, OK fair enough maybe they found a higher profile series but no! They turned their attentions to sponsoring ruddy golf!

Maybe Bridgestone pulling out is a continuing sign of the withdrawal of Japan from F1, first Honda, Toyota next?
