http://www.grand-am.com/News/GA_News...challenge.aspx
The Euroseries is also trying to establish a similar series in the US working with GrandAm/IMSA. |

SCCA Trans-Am seem very similar to that kind of racing, doesn't it? It would be easier to get them on the Grand-Am schedule.

So the Europeans are going to tell the Americans how to run a stock car series?

I guess the question being, why another series, so similar to the IMSA Lites. IMSA Lites is a series that the sanction has built the cars, and sells the parts. Why replace that with cars made by someone else, and lose the revenue?

If the objective is to protect Elan revenue then they are doing the right thing. If the objective is to increase racing of sports racers in the US they need to open it up. In Europe in the Euroseries, V de V and other prototype series, there are regularly 40 to 50 cars fields. We have nothing like that here with contemporary fast cars. IMSA Lites currently will not allow any other cars in, especially faster cars that may make their brands look bad. For me personally, I want to race a two seat car so I can also use the car for track days and also have a coach in the other seat. The IMSA Lites rules limit the car counts because you can only run those two brands. IMSA Lites may not be the place to have a more open environment to allow more types of faster cars. Of course the new GrandAm/IMSA management team may want to expand car counts and may open up the fields. |

Ive read the article 3 times and have not seen any indication they are planning to start a new series in America, where are you getting this information from?

Perhaps this new championship could form a Road to Daytona:
o- USF2000 o- Star Mazda o- IMSA Lites o- Speed Daytona Challenge o- Daytona Prototypes (or whatever they run in 2015) |

IMSA Lites came about as a result of a proposal to Braselton, to run a V de V series as a support. They liked the idea, and found a way to increase their revenues, car counts being a bit irrelevant to money. Don't know how Daytona will view this, been there, done that with Braselton.

There was also another article detailing the trip the head of the Euroseries made to Daytona a few months ago to have a meeting with Alana France. They mentioned a strengthing of the partnership and possibilities.
