I'm assuming this is relating to the non-use of rallycross 3 at the last event? As far as I'm aware (and I could well be wrong here) the ommision of rallycross 3 is a permanent move as the circuit is reluctant to carry out the work required to bring it back up to standard. As far as I'm concerned it leaves Mondello with too much tarmac and not enough loose (even falling outside the stated split ratio in the blue book). Unless the circuit is willing to change their mind and carry out the work there isn't really an option though.

I am sure that some good news will be announced next weekend in Mondello for the future of rx3. Once again we are bound by the rules in the GREEN BOOK not the BLUE BOOK. But the future looks bright for rx3.

at the last event it was good racing, no accidents since there was no rx3 and the spectators had better viewing. however if mondello put the work in and improved rx3 it would be welcomed back by competitors. rx3 was deemed unsafe by the safety officer due to the condition of the loose. once work is carried out i'm sure we will be back on it in no time.

I'm with BertMK2 on this one. The track is now much faster than it was, well it feels alot faster anyway. Rx3 was a demanding corner and a number of big accidents did happen there, but to do away with it all together has meant the circuit has lost some of its caracter.

I would agree with phil, it has lost alot of its character but i do like the layout that is there in the interm. I think anyone who has raced at mondello knows the type of concentration and judgement you need for that corner, in too fast and your out wide into the rough stuff... Too little and youll get caught...
Although dunlop is alot more challenging now i feel than when exiting rallycross 3, there is soo much grip there its unbeliveable, when you exited rx3 you were always concious that the tires might still be a bit wet and wouldnt go too fast out of it (to try avoid the kitty litter). |

Not too sure, I heard rumours that the entrance and exit are to be widened. The sooner the better this happens. Bring back Rallycross

I recon it would be good if they removed the infield bank, I allways found the main problem was if there was a spinner in front of you there was nowhere to go, and just for the hell of conversation what about a yump !

Yip, a yump/jump would be great idea. They do in Europe and Scandanavia, so why not in Mondello? I also agree with taking away the complete bank, this would be a win/win for drivers and spectators.

my opinion on rx3 is it would be nice to see it back in there. but in saying that there is competitors that dont want it back as part of the track. if work is to be carried out doubt it will be in time for next day but maybe for february. will just have to make voices heard that its wanted as part of circuit.

Great news, guarantee you that if a survey was taken there would be a strong majority who want to see a lot more gravel sections. All the real men and women anyway!
If some people want more tarmac we'll then perhaps they should consider circuit racing. |

Yes I think the vast majority will be pleased to see it back, but my question is what are they going to do with it ???

Spoke to a couple of people on Sunday about RallyX3 and the general opinion was that it would be better if the entrance and exit of RallyX3 were made wider and that there wasn't such a sharp turn in to the loose section. No one mentioned anything about the surface of it.

i'm sure that when decisions are made on it that competitors will be informed by drivers rep John McCluskey. hopefully some of the bank will be moved and the surface redone.

Why don't they ask a broad range of drivers for their ideas?

thats great news that drivers are bein asked, i think the most important thing is that the exit is wide enough to allow 2 cars side by side to allow some outbraking into dunlop

My only idea is the bank needs to go and the surface needs to be smoother. The problem I have with the bank is two fold. 1) if a car spins on the entry you cant see it until you are on top of it (too late). 2) with the bank on the infield if there is a coming together you have nowhere to go, thoughts .......

I could be wrong, but I thought the track from rx3 up to dunlop had been tarmacked, as part of the perimiter road. So even if rx3 was reinstated in a new form the track would still have a large amount of tarmac.
