2019 ACO/FIA WEC Prologue Test Week
This is the main thread of the WEC Prologue weekend on July 23/24. Even with the withdrawls of Ford and BMW in GTE Pro and SMP Racing in LMP1, there's still some to look forward to.
Toyota will be making the public debut of their evo package for the Toyota TS050 for what is expected to be its last season. Ginetta will be returning to the WEC at the Prolouge. Also, the on track debut of the Porsche 911 RSR-19 will occur, and hopefully Aston Martin Racing will be able to debut new tires that Michelin are designing for FR cars in the WEC/IMSA that allegedly have been under development. Of course, I should now say test week, since the test days will be Tuesday and Wednesday instead of Saturday or Sunday.

Funny to see Goodyear on the live timing rather than Dunlop.
With Dunlop still being used in the ELMS, is the intention for both tyre manufacturers to be at Le Mans? Or will Dunlop teams switch to Goodyear for that race? |

Ginettas haven't run yet, any reason?

The google chrome extension to access decent live timing info from Le Mans still works for the Prologue as of now.
LM race thread post #400 - Link to extension Install extension, navigate to https://www.fiawec.com/en/live. The extension should transform the playschool standard wec timing into the format everyone is used to with actual sectors, top speed, intervals and gaps. Not that it means much in testing as much as an actual race, but good to know the work around is still working around. The American Motorsport way. |

The final year we can make such comparisons, but still
https://www.motorsport.com/wec/news/nasr-unsure-rebellion-race-seat/4499540/ “It’s a decent step [up from the Cadillac DPi] especially in terms of downforce and power. Turn 3 is pretty impressive inside the car, the car feels really hooked up.” |

Session 2 has been quite interesting. LMP1 are getting closer. Just a shame that SMP quit.
United with an Oreca is making significant progress. Will be surprising if they finish the ELMS championship with their Ligier |

Rebellion set their best time of a 1:31.073 at the end of a 12 lap stint. Driver was Norman Nato, so not even one of their regulars.

Well Toyota certainly put the laps in. Miles more than any other team.

At least the best lap times were close. All lmp1s got into the 1:29's and Ginetta rivaled, well actually, surpassed Rebellion in lap count in the final session.

Looking at the sector times, Rebellion has the best 1st and 2nd sector, but Toyota's are 9 tenths faster in sector 3 alone! Seems the high speed sections where downforce comes into play the private cars are as good or better, but that slow section Toyota demolishes them (probably that hybrid 4wd out the chicane).

Not so much the 4WD, as the 4WD system isn't used when the tyres are traction limited. The massive amount of torque and instant delivery is miles ahead of what a petrol engine can achieve.

I find it interesting/telling that even though the six (or five) car P1 field is obviously nearing it's death and is seemingly despised by many, them doing some non-televised test sessions still manages to get infinitely more posts in different threads than the entire spec racing weekend of ELMS and MLMC on the same circuit. Maybe that's a sign that people don't enjoy staleness. Of which there shall be more.

ELMS and MLMC have no flare. There is no passion there. Too standardized. Boring.
