Beating a Dead Horse
I realize that this topic has been beaten to death.
But, I still think it remains fun. You are KK, and venues are begging at your feet. You can only accomodate a 16-event schedule. Where would you go? (Finances and crowds aside...) I've split my list up, to comprise of the "Triple-Crown", short-ovals, streets, airports and roads. Michigan Fontana Lausizring Phoenix Milwaukee Las Vegas Toronto Australia Denver Detroit Edmonton Cleveland Road America Laguna Seca Montreal Brands Hatch (Full) |

I'd have...
Long Beach, Portland, Laguna Seca, Elkhart Lake, Cleveland, Montreal, Edmonton, Toronto, Michigan, Fontana, Surfers' Paradise, Milwaukee, Lausitzring, Rockingham, Mexico and Denver. But then again I wouldn't do a 16-race schedule... |

Ok, I'll take a crack at it.
1. St. Petersburg 2. Long Beach 3. Phoenix 4. Milwaukee 5. Portland 6. Cleveland 7. Toronto 8. Michigan 9. Edmonton 10. Road America 11. Pocono 12. Montreal 13. Laguna Seca 14. Texas World Speedway (long oval) 15. Surfers Paradise 16. Mexico City 5 Ovals 4 Street Circuits 4 Road Courses 2 Airport Circuits 1 Parkland Circuit I would have a slightly different mix if I had a few more slots available. Given the flexibility of a few more events, I would have likely thrown in a couple more overseas races. Rather than be convoluted about it though, I'll just list off my ultimate schedule. 1. St. Petersburg 2. Long Beach 3. Phoenix 4. Lausitz, Germany 5. Spa-Francorchamps 6. Milwaukee 7. Portland 8. Cleveland 9. Toronto 10. Michigan 11. Edmonton 12. Road America 13. Denver 14. Montreal 15. Laguna Seca 16. Pocono 17. Surfers Paradise 18. Isla Grande Airport 19. Mexico City I REALLY wish there were a few more oddly configured ovals out there (Brooklands, Grenzlandring, Pocono, Rockingham UK). Revised Breakdown: 5 Ovals 5 Street Circuits 5 Road Courses 3 Airport Circuits 1 Parkland Circuit |

Macdaddy, if you are going to have a triple crown of "airport circuits" you need to include Sebring as the third. I believe it was built on an old airfield.

That is somewhat correct. It was laid out on the airfield, and it is still about half tarmac , with the rest being asphalt. The thing is, what they race on now is a permanent circuit, not like Cleveland, Edmonton, or St. Petersburg.

By "Triple Crown", I was referring to a trio of 500-milers.

Too much of a rush to come up with a full list - but the 16 would be 2 Mexico, 2 Canada, 1 Australia, 11 USA.
No Europe or Japan. |

No Europe...
I'm trying to not consider finances, demographics, TV ect... Having re-read my list, I realize how daft I was to not include LongBeach. Brands would have to go to make way for it. But that certain oval in Germany is a favourite of mine! |

There's 16:
Ovals: Fontana (500) Michigan (500) Milwaukee Vegas (oval) Lausitz (back-to-back with road race at Donington) Airports: Cleveland Edmonton Road courses: Portland Elkhart Lake Laguna Seca Road Atlanta VIR International races: Surfer's Paradise Mexico City Donington (+ Lausitz oval) Interlagos If we can go for 20: Denver (S), Montreal (R), Vancouver (S), Houston (S) I've deliberately not tried to poach Long Beach from IRL - it's going to be their showcase race for a while so they'll hang on to it. I'd rather hold the UK race at Donington than Brands, although in a compeltely ideal world it'd be at Oulton - for the benefit of our transatlantic correspondents, imagine somewhere that reminds you of Elkhart Lake and Laguna... Sebring 4 tracks I would add to make a 20 race season Spa Brands Hatch Twin Ring Motegi Monterrey Other tracks I'd like to see are Beijing, Ansan, Lausitring, Rockingham and Watkins Glen. Somehow I doubt we'll be seeing a 25 race season anytime though. |
