Will there be any additional Asian entries at all? Or are we looking at the same 28 cars we saw in the last 2 races?

I presume so, yes. Is Toyota having 2 LMP1 cars at this race by any chance? Also, I wonder if Toyota will continue the Japanese manufacturer tradition of having a new-spec engine at their home event.

No second car at Fuji.

I hope they don't, they're just asking for trouble doing that. Endurance racing 101 - never make major changes before a big event (I.e. Peugeot 2010). Imagine if the engine blew at Fuji of all places... embarrassing!

Wasn't there a rumour some months ago that JIMGAINER might join this round with their Ferrari?

I'd say, the more the merrier.

Japanese GT series know some great looking cars from well run teams.

Wasn't this supposed to pay full points for the GT300 field for Super GT as well?

Think you are confusing this with the fact that GT300s are to be accepted in the Asian Le Mans Series

Yes, for the rest of the season. They want to give both cars an equal chance for the WEC title.

Furthermore, it would be a bit stupid to go back an ultra after all the effort that the mechanics did to convert the #2 to an e-tron quattro

I'm kind of surprised there's even a designated braking zone in that final sequence. I find it slightly odd that, since there is one, that the braking zone is at Turn 16 rather than Turn 15.

(Just thinking out loud here.)

This race is all or nothing for the #2 car as they have to win both the remaining rounds to win the championship. Having said that, if the #1 car comes second both times in the remaining races to the #2 car, then McNish and Kristensen will win championship by a mere 0.5 points!

They should let a privateer run them for 2013 .

What happens if Toyota wins both? I think these tracks play into their hands. Lots of hard braking, slow speed hybrid zones. Every release zone is 100kmh and under at Fuji.

I am not convinced that this is the case.

Toyota always said that Bahrain was the circuit on the WEC calendar that suited their car the most. Yet, Audi could match their race pace. In http://www.motorsport-total.com/wec/..._12100301.html Vasselon provides an explanation for this.
Quote:
The debate is not new. So far, Vasselon explains, the regulations have favored diesels. "On a track like Bahrain, among other, acceleration matters. We certainly have an advantage over Audi with regards to the hybrid system, but we are down in engine power. These parameters play together and have compensated each other in Bahrain."
The 1.5 km straight of Fuji should really suit the R18. Audi does not have to trim down the aero in order to get a good top speed, because of the power advantage of their diesel engine.

I didn't ask your opinion on whether you think they can win or not . I asked about the championship battle between the two Audi's if Toyota wins both the final races.

As for the tracks suiting a particular car; LeMans was supposed to be Audi as well, they got passed on track. Silverstone, passed on track. Brazil, lapped on track. Bahrain, passed on track. Fuji? May as well keep the trend. Recall Silverstone and Bahrain have long straights. Bahrain is like Fuji in that it has slow corners before long acceleration zones. 3 of 4 hybrid Zone's follow a huge acceleration zone. ALL of the hybrid zones are at least 20kmh under what Audi can release their hybrid power on the front wheels. That's an advantage to Toyota.

So is anyone taking the plunge and watching the race live at the weekend?

A 2.30am start in the UK for (I imagine) a 3am green flag on Motors TV:

http://www.motorstv.com/sites/defaul...3_20121019.pdf

I can manage a 7am start for the GP in Korea so will probably back-to-back them and watch the WEC afterwards.

Will be able to manage the full Petit a week later but Fuji is a bit too much to ask.

Just unprofessional. Technically not the most polished site, but worst part is the content (or lack of it)...

This also means the language. I'm not native English speaker but generally the language on the site seems just really weird at times. Like it was machine translated from French. The word choices ("Vibrate"?!). I find this really off-putting. Also, according to what grammar rule a space should always precede an exclamation mark? Is this is a French grammar rule?
