It's deals like the one Ferrari made that lend credence to the widespread opinion that Ferrari, the FIA, and Bernie have this little troika going, and Ferrari's "exalted" position within it is the justification for the favoritism they receive.
I hope the manufacturers stick together and don't allow Bernie to win this little divide and conquer strategy he's employing. This situation probably has a lot to do with how far Max is pressing ahead with further rule changes, which I think are getting a bit too much. I'm in favor of any technology that will make the car go faster, without making it any easier to drive in the process. I don't like to see the cars slowed down. |

Seriously, I take this all with a very large grain of salt. When will these guys realise that the GPWC will NEVER work!!?? They are just trying to get the sweetest deal they can. We still have a good 2 1/2 years of the boll*cks to go through, but bottom line, there will be no GPWC. Please quote me on that.

I'd say that it is very unlikely GPWC would ever take off. The whole process is just too tedious to start from scratch, the credibility of the championship will be weak, the success of the series is not garanteed..and everything will be a huge risk.
I'm curious that prior to this thread, we have people who claims Manufacturers are bad for F1, killing F1 with huge budgets and the greater emphasis on car than drivers in the modern era...yet have shown signs of supporting a Manufacturer-led series just because it is ganging up against evil Ferrari/FIA/Bernie?? contradiction... Although it is true that Ferrari alone cannot run an F1 series...but the fact is that the worth of having Ferrari in it alone is comparable to that of BMW/Mercedes/Honda/Toyota/Renault combined. In signing Ferrari, Bernie effectively had won half the battle. Just like how the "testing proposals" collapse, i'd wager that the teams will soon show their tail and sign up in F1 once they get a better deal. |

The GPWC is working and has worked.
It worked for Ferrari to get more revenue from F1 and will work for the other teams too. It's not going to be a rival series. |

This is as much about sharing control fairly and equally than about money. As long as F, F, & B continue to try to dictate terms, the GPWC will continue. I wouldn't sell them short, anyway. They have the numbers. |
