Hmm, no Friday Practice thread yet?
Ferrari 2.7 seconds ahead of third placed car, that's a Williams.. Hmm, indeed a bit early, but 2.7 seconds are 2.7 seconds.......

seems pretty slow to me and a bit jumbled but there is no mistaking who is at the top. |

Yeah it is a bit slow...as are the Minardis - Baumgartner 9 secs off the pace... Minardi have clearly closed the gap during the 3 week break...

The gap from 3rd to 17th is the same as that from 1st to 3rd...

That is actually statistically quite likely. Guassian distribution and all that. I posted a sad graph on it once!
Anyway. Kimi: 4 laps. McLaren are confident they have sorted their reliability woes then |

If recent test shows any trend...Ferrari will dominate Friday practice, the rivals will close up on Saturday practice..and then Ferrari will regain control in quals and race... Whoops..we are heading for the same thing again...
It's pretty sad that Mclaren ran so little. |

Anyone else wondering how many cars will finish on the same lap on Sunday?

It is looking like Ferrari domination. Unfortunately I don't expect there to be as many battles behind as in the last couple of races with. Imola hasn't been kind to racing over the last few years.

Total blitz, interesting with Max's timing of his new proposals as many could argue that looking at the times we are seeing now (and keep seeing) that an increasing number of teams (not just the backmarkers), are barely in the same race....

Hmm, 2.1 seconds means actually 2.7%. I wouldn't exactly call that "close". Between first and 3rd car.... |

Work colleague was just asking me whether I thought Michael looked a decent bet at 4/7 (thats seven to four on) on the online betting site he was looking at...
Shorter than evens in a 20 horse race. Hmm... |

So why has Alonso gone of the boil? and I think the Toyota drivers best head down to the job centre on Monday.

The difference between the race drivers and the testers may just be down to the relative freedom the testers have under the current rules. Still Zonta does seem to be doing well.

Looks like an interesting race for 3rd downwards...
Yes, the Gaussian distribution means that there will be really fast then really slow and a huge amount of guys in between |

I think Michelin need to put in some money and testing miles on their tyres.

I gave up on it being a tough year for Ferrari after the first race. They are miles ahead. Tires are the most important thing on a car!
Anyway its the race between the three teams behind them that is really of interest. I still think Williams and Renault are a little ahead of the BAR but no by enough to be comfortable. I think just a slightly wrong set up or a silly mistake can really change the complexion of the battle for the 3rd podium spot. In past years RS could start from the back and still end up on or very near the podium; not this year. That is my area of interest. We have said this for the past 5 years... "Maybe next year someone will take the fight to Ferrari". Only this time I am hoping they are in a Honda. |
