VIR 2016
Just doing a quick intro here. GT only race at one of the prettiest tracks in North America. If you are a fan of paved runoff and curbs, this one isn't for you. If you haven't noticed there has been some bop bickering by the GT3 Porsche teams and a few have withdrawn.

This is a great event that I wish P cars could run at, but it's understandable. Fast GT cars works good enough for me! |

Also some sympathy to me, VIR is by far the closest track to where I live but I can't get to the race this weekend since I got a son who hurt his leg and is forced to wear a cast. No condition to travel unfortunately. |

I'll be there on Sunday. Agreed that this is one of the prettiest tracks one could visit. Also in the camp that misses seeing prototypes there. Loved hearing the pops and bangs when the P1s and P2s used to get off the throttle before the oak tree, sound of it echoing off the grove of trees there was one I'll never forget!

As a passenger of said drive, please no.
I'm okay with GT only. Somehow makes sense to me as this is the only non-endurance race I go to. |

Safe travels, enjoy the race and we'll see you at PLM, I hope. GT only gives us a better chance to watch the battles more closely. I like it a lot for VIR. |

Should be interesting as the track was just finished being repaved only 3 weeks before the race. Rahal was at VIR testing two weeks ago and was the first race car of any type on the repave. From looking at some run times from other events held at VIR since the repave the track should be 1-2 seconds a lap quicker than last year.

You should go! And yes, should see you at PLM. Sean and I are doing the end of season trifecta, VIR, COTA, PLM. |

Totally bummed I'm missing it for vacation this year, but really looking forward to the race even so. I think the GT only format is great, but I was never lucky enough to see prototypes at VIR.
FYI to anyone who is into HPDE events we sponsor the Audi Club HPDEs in the region, and they have their end of year at VIR in November. If it's fun to watch it's twice as fun to drive. |

This is an event I'd like to attend, but it's just too damn hot this time of year to even consider it.
I clearly have soft hands. |

Notice that there was no sportscar race of consequence last weekend. This weekend though we get IMSA, ELMS, and Blancpain at the same time. Kinda quirky.
