New Pit road rules question
There was mention during the race today about a new ruling regarding the pit road penalties. My understanding was that if you were called in for leaving the pits too fast or for some STOP & GO penalty, that you wouldn't have to stop but just drive through.
However, DW seemed uncertain if that was the actual ruling himself. What about when they hold the car for 15 seconds while coming down pit road ? There must be more to this... |

I think the new pit road violation rule applies on green flag stops. Before: if the speeding was on pit in the car is held 15 seconds after all work is done (what should have happened to Sterling at Las Vegas) and if the speed vioaltion happened out the way our of the pit the penalty was a stop and go, now this is clearly unequal, and obvioulsy unfair. So the new rule is: any speeding violation will result in a "drive through" penalty, that is the driver has to come down pit road at pit road speed without stopping for a speeding whether it is done coming in or leaving the pits, but it only applies on green flag stops. As I understaand it the rule will be go to the end of the longest line on a yellow flag violation.
