If its wet (of which there is a good chance), it will be a Ferrari walkover.
However, I think we should watch out for Williams, they are bringing new rear bodywork and other small aero pieces, could spring a surprise ? |

I think Michael vs. Kimi vs. Alonso for Pole. Button on the fringes. Montoya dissapointing again. I too think Williams will be around the coat tails of the big four. Hopefully we'll get some more of the same from Rosberg.

Massa Engine Change
So, that is one Ferrari out of contention for the front. Presumably, for the pole and victory it will be the usual trio. The thing that I am going to be interested to see is whether or not Honda and Ferrari had "artificial" pace in Bahrain (due to all the testing). |

I saw a rather interesting fact the other day stating Webber has yet to finish at Malaysia, so just as far as national pride goes i hope he can get top 5, maybe a podium. Williams in general look like they'll be surprising, Nico has the challenge of learning the track, so he could very well be giving Wurz company on Friday, which doesnt do his engine favours after his Bahrain charge.
Im expecting a surprise to come from either Kimi/Alonso/Schuey. I'd be surprised to see them back on the podium together so soon for some reason, so perhaps a mid race incident or engine failure for someone there. Perhaps the 3 of them being able to start alongside each other, which didnt happen at Bahrain, will cause trouble at the first corner. |

I think some of Ferrari and Honda's pace was 'artificial', and it was also emphasized by Kimi starting at the back, Fisichella having problems and Alonso not putting in a true charge for pole. I'd say it will take Michale's genuis for them to win the race outright. Oh and it's MalaYsia, we've been going there 7 years.

I wouldn't count Montoya out so quick -- we've only had one race. I'm not saying he's going to win the pole - but honestly, would anyone be shocked if he did???

With a dicky engine, I don't think so.
My bet for pole is going to be Kimi. |

Well, first practice is under way (first 22 minutes done) and Kubica is leading the way for BMW from Massa and Williams' Wurz.

Neither Williams nor Honda's race drivers did any laps - both teams left it up to their test drivers to pound the Sepang circuit.
Strictly speaking, KR, Fernando, Fisico, JV and Quick Nick completed a lap as they kept going into their pits after each lap. So they didn't record a time. Wurz fastest from Kubica, Ant third, JPM fourth, DC fifth, TGF and Massa sixth and seventh. |

What is going on with telecast times in Oz ? It looks to me as though 9 are not going to show the GP or practice due to the Commonwealth Games ?

For those in Melbourne, Australia, I suggest you get down to the Charles Dickens, on Collins Street, near Elizabeth Street. They show every session live on the big screen. |

Anthony spun, could well have been T14 (it was certainly towards the end of the lap), and got lodged in a similar style to Michael at Nurb '03.
AD ended up going out again because, if I am understanding things correctly, the car was returned to the Honda garage in time for him to go out again. |
