Speculation of a new track
About 2 or 3 years ago, i remember reading somewhere that Champcar was looking at a venue through Central Park in New York City.
They had a map of what the track was going to look like and everything. After about a month of all the hype and excitement, i heard nothing else about it. Has anyone heard any rumors about the Central Park venue since then? Central Park is about an hour away from me and i was excited that i might be able to actually attend a Champcar race. |

There was talk of a speedway being built in Jersey, too.
Nothing has ever come from it, though. At least not to the best of my knowledge. And so I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. |

ISC bought 600acres in Staten Island. NASCAR will be the first to conquer New York.

I believe they're referring to metropolitan NY City.

Yeah I can't exactly see a New York street race, although it would be pretty cool!
Hey Flaming Wuzzule, who's your avatar? He looks familiar - like some Indian guy I see on the Indian channels I get at home |

What days/weekends could be used in New York with minimum disruption ?
are there any local bi-laws that prohibit a street race ? |

They have tried twice before to my knowledge. F1 was scheduled for Flushing Meadow in 1983-85. About 10 years later CART produced a map of a circuit round the World Trade Centrer. Both failed to happen due to local beaurocracy.
