Just one little correction to the programme - there's only one XR race, as the 2s & 3s now race together; it helps reduce the number of red flag incidents! |

Yes, I'm going will be racing in the Fiesta and Ford Championship races. Not sure if I'll be running an 1800 or a 1400 car yet as I'm just doing buy drives from Daniels Motorsport to get license upgrade signatures.
I've run the 1400 in previous rounds (see Racing Diary HERE I was a bit dissapointed to find out that it is being run on the Fosters Circuit (no chicanes/straight on at Cascades) but should still be great fun. See the timetable HERE If your coming along why not drop by the Daniels Motorsport Transporter and say Hello. Maxx |

What's the attraction of chicanes anyway? 'Straight on at Cascades' just means you have a bigger off! |

Thankfully Druids is still there to satisfy my desire for a challenge and I am looking forward to the novelty of going straight on at cascades "on purpose" Maxx |

To get ten races into an afternoon on the Island circuit would probably result in 6 lap races.
The real problem is not the number of racing laps or the 15 race time as this meeting is scheduled. It's the between-race gaps that cause the problem. The outlap, green flag lap, slowing down laps all take twice as long on the Island circuit as they do for Fosters. It also takes much longer to clear the long circuit between races, especially as Walter seems to be on a go-slow at the moment Last edited by Flagman; 9 Oct 2002 at 15:03. |

Very good point about the outlap/inlap/formation laps etc. I'd not thought of that - also I'd not fully appreciated that there were 10 races scheduled as many are double-headers. Certainly a packed schedule and, as a driver in the last race of the day, I sure hope it all goes to plan.
BTW, you guys (Marshals) do a bl**dy great job, as I've said in the Marshals forum before now. I hope we have a trouble-free day (although I suspect that = boring for you guys) and that we put on a good show for you all. Maxx |

Just quickly to say Thanks to Chris and Maisie for dropping by and chatting yesterday at Oulton, also sorry to have not met up with Dave and KayBee even though I may have fallen foul of the KayBee curse, which has moved (for me) to Old Hall.
I got into a slide during my first qualifying session and speared off on the wet grass into the tire barrier on the exit of Old Hall. I guess it must have been around a 70mph impact. I was able to race in my 2 races although I felt I was rather subdued. I did a wave to all Marshall and Spectators on the close down lap so you may have spotted me, I was in a rather battered Yellow Fiesta. I do actually keep a Race Webdiary here : http://homepage.ntlworld.com/medeson/diary.htm which I will add a report from Oulton later this week to if anyones interested in taking a look. Thanks to the Marshals at Old Hall for a quick response and a good chat whilst I waited for the Medical Car. Maxx PS. Just to preserve my reputation - something DID go awry at T1 which at least must have contributed to my "off". Once I got over the wall the next car that came around did a complete 360 and the next 3 all got into tail slides but recovered, following which the slippery surface flag went out. |

Sorry we didn't get to chat to you - looks like you'll have to do a few meetings at Oulton next year! The curse of KayBee may not have been working yesterday - the only driver she spoke to, as a far as I know, was Steve James, who had no problems - but them, Steve's a marshal as well as a driver, which probably means the curse doesn't work on him! Come to think of it, we didn't have any incidents in the morning at Deer Leap, but we had a Porsche into the tyre wall & lot of near misses in the afternoon; at lunchtime, I borrowed a pair of gloves off KayBee as mine had got wet in the morning........ Nice to meet you Malcolm, and well done again for getting the car out for both races (albeit briefly in the first!) - look forward to seeing you next year

I had a great viewpoint of all the antics that happened at Old Hall (Turn 1) from the vantage point of Avenue (Turn 2). There was some amazing formation spinning at Old Hall and, unusually, a lot of incidents on the Avenue stretch. There was an amazing number of red flags and tyre wall rebuilds also. Hope to see you next season. |
