Drink Congratulations Red Bull on their constructors' championship victory
That is a Red Bull-based cocktail in the thread icon.

Congratulations on their third and third consecutive victory. No team had won their first three constructors' championships on the trot.

I lived in Milton Keynes for a bit and can say that they may have gone outside and decided "Nah, there's nothing much here; let's go back in and make a championship winning F1 car", while at Maranello it's easy to get distracted by the tasty food.

Well done them. They may not have engendered many fans yet (is it because their origin is as a drinks company? remember Lewis's unwise remarks?), but this is clearly a serious team with some excellent achievements for such a short time in the sport, showing the way and showing up many an established team and wannabe champion team.

Those Ford execs must have groaned yesterday. Their old team, powered by a French engine, money from an Austrian soft drink merchant (but alternators apparently made from Swiss Cheese)... Yep, pulling out of F1 was a brilliant decision. Nice one, Dearborn.

Yes, the austrian energy drink ! I have forgotten all about this ! Now what F1 have become, Ferraris, Mclarens and Mercedes petrolheads won't beat an outsider that sells drinks.

And yet, Renault on top of all things. Teflonso should know better.

I'm sure this was never such a big deal when an Italian jumper manufacturer was winning championships in the 90s...

Teflonso burnt his bridges with McLaren and staked a lot on the supposed magic of Ferrari (magical gearbox issues, although I gather they are very proud of having come clean, ignoring the deed itself).

definitely a huge accomplishment and an unbelievable run of form. well done to RB Racing!

one of the Speed commentators mentioned that this years prize money is around 100mil for first place!

He is the alchemist - and nothing short of that. Everyone who has worked there (at Red Bull) is inspired by him and his approach to racing, design and his desire explore the boundaries - all with the aim to win. But by virtue of being the alchemist, he isn't the whole reason for RBR's remarkable success.

Forget Vettel for a minute - though of course he is a great driver and a good choice for promotion in 2009 to team A from team B after his remarkable display in Monza in 2008.

Newey, if asked directly, would I am sure be honest a forthright in acknowledging that the success of the design and build of the 2009-2012 RBRs, and the improvements that come between race one and the end of the season are not down to him alone - but to a team of people.

People who have been inspired by him to look not only for every fraction of performance, but encouraged to look within themselves, at their own ingenuity, and come forward with their own ideas, in the knowledge that (the gentleman that he obviously is) he will never claim 'well yes, I had this brilliant idea and.....'

The media may well do that, but never he.

In other words, he is also a people-person and therefore a great team builder - which is pretty rare amongst the usual single-minded 'engineering-type' of personality.

Another major difference is that Red Bull have autonomy, to a large extent, that Stewart and Jaguar operating in the name of Ford never enjoyed. The design team at Red Bull can explore avenues, without having to ask Mr Ford 'Can we do this please?' and often, I am told, being denied...

Go team RBR - and eat your words, anyone who said 'They are only a drinks company, we are a F1 racing team' or words to that effect...

Yes, he might be fundamental to their success but he can't be everything. Certainly all "parts" to make a powerful team have come together and worked close to perfection. The strategy is another crucial "part" and RBR did the right things at the right moments, so I guess there are more brainiacs inside the successful machine that is RBR today.

I view them as much the same in terms of feeling. Neither were overly popular or that unpopular either.

I don't consider Red Bull as disliked at all personally. I'm sure there is resentment over their success from some quarters but that is only normal.

That said, Benetton did have a short period of being loathsome in 1994 by attempting to break every single rule in the book.
