Other than the top three, who did good and who was rubbish and, more importantly, why?
Winners: JV: storming drive, but is he a BAR man for next year? Surley he must be staying now; however...... Williams: Ralf strong again but, more importantly, Button puts in a solid performance when he needs to. Will this make Frank think again on any possibility on JPM being released by Chip? Losers: Benetton/Arrows: nodescript all weekend. Arrow's reliability bug bites (again), Fischo let down by a car with NO grip. At all. Ever. Wurz just made to look rediculous. What went wrong with him? When he deputised for Berger he was the best thing since sliced cheese. Now he's just regular cheese. Will he get a drive next year? Who with? If not, where to? Prost: utter utter rubbish. Minardi: Mazzacane inexplicably driving off, Gené contriving to punt off Alesi. |

Dear Murray:
That was Trulli trying to punt Alesi. As usual. Love, Liz |

Tristan, you forgot Jaguar...
Just how much worse can it get. I think Irvine following DC so closely on the last lap was pretty foolish-if he had locked up and punted Coulthard, there would have been hell to pay. |

And then there is Ricardo Zonta, who spun off yet again.
Liz, enjoy watching him while you can. |

You are both, of course, quite correct. JV qualifies 6th (I think), RZ 20th. Same equipment, same car. Oh dear.

To quote Murray Squaker from his 99 season preview (talking about the BAR driver lineup)
"...if there's any advantage going, I'd be surprised if Jacques didn't get it." There's as much equal equipment at BAR as there was at Williams last year. Zonta is a good driver. No-one has as much bad luck as that. Oh, except Jonny Herbert |

Winners:
McLaren - a one-two, what more do you want??? JV - another excellent drive, in a car that is a heap of junk. Williams - great drives by both of them. Jordan - both finished. Now there's a first. Losers: Sauber: Non-descript as ever. Ferrari: Ha ha ha. Benetton: Dismal. Arrows: Oh dear. Jaguar: No wonder Johnny stomped off in a mood. Prost: Why do they bother... Minardi: Gene was faster than a load of the guys ahead of him, but he was hampered by another shoddy start and Alesi trundling in front of him like a mobile chicane. As for Gaston... BRING BACK LUCA!!! |
