Well i'm gonna buy a new kart suit on Saturday. What do you think i should get?

Its between the Sparco Monaco and the Sparco Imola?

What does everyone think of getting a rib protector aswell?

I second that!

I'm unsure, but are they important as a neck brace?!

From what I've seen the Monaco looks better colour wise.

I need to find my catalogue to remember what they look like.

As for the rib protector, seriously, you must get one. I bought a Rib-Tec one which covers ribs, spine, shoulders and upper arms for about £30 from Zoomkarts, just as good as the £80 ones. I've lost count the amount of times it's changed potentioal cracked ribs to just bruising or being winded. Neck brace i'd also strongly recommend

For the price - around £140, I'd go for a MIR suit myself, but it's up to you what you get. Out of the two you listed, I'd say the Monaco, but be careful with the white.

Rib protecters I wouldn't call essential, but you might as well get one. I've got one of the tillet ribtec2s, but I don't think it's saved me from any injury yet. I use it more to wedge me in the seat

Don't use a neckbrace because I find them way too restrictive. It's too hard to tuck in with one (and if you do you loose the ability to breathe,) you can't glance behind, you can't see the carb screws and they make my neck ache when I use them. However, they could probably stop you getting whiplash.

I've got a black Imola suit. Nice looking thing, and has stretchy parts under the arms allowing more movement than my older style one. I quite like the Monaco though, especially the blue and white one. Guess it's personal choice really, however, like siad i think the white could be a bummer to keep clean, especially while chasing down them oily TKM's which tend to spray **** at you lol

Just been looking in Karting Magazine at them and saw there is one place charging £140, hope your not going to pay that much, Demon Tweeks which i always used to think are horribly over priced with most things have the Monaco for £116, same suit elsewhere £142!! Look around before buying

Yeah its the same for me i really can't stand wearing them. I would rather take the risk then be uncomfortable.

Demon Tweeks have it for that price beacause they dont show the VAT Including vat it comes to 140.

I'll be buying all my stuff from Grand Prix racewear, there prices are ok and its not very far away from my house so i can go and try the stuff on before i buy it.

Speedy thats the rib protector i was looking at getting.

That rib-protector is good because you can remove the bits which protect your upper arms, i found they restricted movement and needed another person to really get them down the sleeves properly

Well i bought it all today, race suit(monaco-black,grey), black sparco gloves and an OMP rib protector. Very pleased and they were very helpful at grand pirx racewear. They didnt have my size for the racesuit at the shop but i was told that they would send it on monday and it should be with me either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Would strongly recommend GPR

James, just a Q on your web site.

In the profile section you write;

"Kart: (Pictured right from 2004) Chassis: Trulli JT3 Engine: FR125 Rotax, 28bhp, power-valve fuel injection system 0-60mph: 3.5 seconds Top speed: 110mph "

fuel injection system bit is leaving me baffled

Ye, thats incorrect and needs changing, no fuel injection system, just the power valve, thanks for pointing that out
