PHR Scuderia Takes A Step Back
Mr Maher Algadri's PHR Scuderia Nation's Cup team is taking a step back for 2004. The team owner has said elsewhere he is committed to the series, but with a sprawling business empire across the world, the time and energy it takes to own and operate a professional team in the PROCAR categories sees a reassessment of racing activities.
For sale in Auto Action today (p7) are the current collection of recently raced cars, eligible for Nations Cup, the B24hr, European GT, Grand Am amongst others. "Sale or Lease Ferrari NGT 360 Michellotto 2002 This is the car that John Bowe campaigned to outright second in the 2003 Nations Cup Championship with numerous wins and lap records. The car is fully rebuilt and race prepared with a fresh engine and a complete range of spares. (GTR: Interestingly the sister car to this finished 6th at the Daytona 24hr) Porsche GT3 Clubsport 2000 Fully set up for Nations Cup, Porsche Cup or Targa Tasmania. Lightweight panels, etc this car has had no expense spared in maintenance and preparation. Priced to sell quickly. Porsche GT3 RS 2002 This car is like new, the only races it has competed in are the 2003 Bathurst 24hour and Gold Coast Indy. This is the latest and best RS in Australia. The car comes with a full range of spares. BMW M3 GTR 2001 This car was built for BMW Motorsport Nth America by Prototype Technology Group it is a 5.0 Litre, 6 speed Hewland purpose built for American Grand Am, a potential winner in Nations Cup with many spares. Inquiries via T. Little PHR Scuderia etc etc" It would be a shame to lose these vehicles to Australia, the GT3RS in the right hands has the potential to win the 24hr on its own, the Ferrari is quick on the slower circuits (and has a good overseas enduro record), while the BMW potential remains untapped. |

It would be nice if it was pplater, but it seems not given that the ad is in the trade press.
3 of the 4 cars in the ad can with the NC series with the right preparation, budget and driver The other GT3 can probably win Group 2 with the same scenario. Its a shame the squad is taking a sabbatical from the series, but the opportunity is here for others to get involved with cars that are already here, a known quantity, and with significant life left in them |

How many Savvy race-trained people would be out of a job?
Phr had like EIGHTY with them at B24, how many of them would have been paid? half? i dont know, but it is sad to see the most long-standing and professional outfit in Procar leave. Shame. |

Most of the PHR Scuderia people at the 24hr were contractors.
For example, the BE Racing Ferrari was being looked after by Paul Cruickshank The note in AA suggests the existing team will be kept in place for 2004, which means probably that Mr Little retains his gig. With Mr Algadri's automotive interests in Melbourne expanding (new car dealerships primarily) there would be a place in the network somewhere for anyone potentially displaced by the change in setup |

Nice. I thought that PHR were like Holden Racing team, a professional working for each aspect of the team, but it seems that not too many people will be burnt by this.
Who is Mr. Little? Cruickshank? will he have the Michelotto? My Brain Hurts |

Terry Little is team manager at PHR Scuderia, who took over after Paul Cruickshank moved to Qld to run Konica cars for Kevin Mundy and Todd Wanless (now Marcus Vukanovic).

Ahh. There is an interview with him in the 24hr programme, methinks. If mr. Little keeps his job, and they are selling $1 million+ worth of cars/equipment, what will he be managing. Do the F550GT rumors have some concrete here?

The 550GT will go to Mark Coffey Racing, presuming Mr Coffey doesnt find somewhere else for Mr Simonsen to play in 2004.
Its getting a bit late now... |

As it has been since Tasman announced JR had a better offer
Simonsen is a good steerer, but needs a consistent program in a good car and team to allow his talents to attract attention. GRM last year didnt provide him with the vehicle (sic) that could do that... |

Jeez, how much money has Mr Algadri torn up by buying all these lovely toys and then putting them up for sale in what smells like a firesale?
Hope he had a good time along the way (but hey, you can't take it with you ) |

Its not quite a fire sale, the prices are reportedly comparable to the acquisition cost of the cars themselves, being freshened and race ready.

So what does that leave competing at the sharp end of NC this season?

Are there only 2 Monaros? if so, what's Nafe Pretty doing this year?
I do dearly hope that the trofeos are properly campaigned, too. |

I was lead to believe that there will be one GRM Monaro for Nathan Pretty.
The story a short while ago was that the 550 would not be here for the beginning of the season, but that MCR had an exciting alternative |

If GRM knew what was good for them, they would be focusing on their main Supercar team, making sure that the lead driver doesnt want to leave, and nor do the sponsors!
I have heard similarly about the F550, but with Mr Algadri's 360 Michelotto sitting there unloved, surely it would be the viable alternative |

The PHR guys are rebuilding Maher's F301 Dallara/Mugen (ex-Will Power/Cooltemp) and also building Maher's other matching car to go with it..........

Should we assume that the major new sponsor of the Lamborghinis is SuperCheap??
