Roy Richardson took the chequered flag in the opening race of the Blackford’s Pre TT Classic Road Races. Bill Swallow and Mike Hose fought throughout the 25.50-mile race, with the latter taking second place at the flag.

Last year’s victor in the 250cc class, Ted Fenwick now a spritely 83-year-old, once again showed the youngsters the way home, winning over Ian Ward and another previous winner Terry Kermode.

The Pre TT Classic Races at the Billown circuit are continueing on Monday from 0830 UTC / 0930 BST / 1030 CET. The races are broadcasted live at Manx Radio TT

Hi ghinzani. Nah nothing great, just a bit of digging up some links for the few interested and for someone who might get interested. I am in good hope that I can make it to some of the sessions and races although I won't be able to attend the pre TT classic race coverage on Monday but I hope to be there for the opening TT practice on Monday evening. Since a major part of race week falls into the Le Mans build up, with bad luck (weather delays etc) into race day, the TT might generate some interest under normally not so much motorcycle racing fans. At least i hope so.

The sidecars opened the practice since it was decided to give the bsb riders, who came right from Thruxton, the chance to make it to the session in time. While the sidecar session still was dry it started to rain during the solo session which ultimately resulted in a red flagged session.

Another link to store is TTlive Web App with live timing, interactive map, photos, twitter and most importantly web access to Manx Radio TT.

Next session will be the solos at 1320 est / 1720 utc / 1820 bst / 1920 cest tonight. Session duration is 1 hour 35 minutes with a 5 minute break to another 50 minutes of sidecar practice.

For viewers with access to the ITV 4 webplayer or satelite TV in western Europe: The channel shows Murray Walker's TT Memories tonight from 1600 est / 2000 utc / 2100 bst / 2200 cest

Steve Plater might miss the TT cause he broke his arm at Mondays BSB round at Thruxton

Interesting to see endurance ace Guillaume Dietrich (Suzuki) having a go at the TT this year as well. I remember the guy well from when he won the Le Mans 24h together with Max Neukirchner. The only win for a German rider in this particular race to date.

McGuinness tops the timing sheet with a 129.041 mph average lap now

Statement issued on behalf of the ACU

A statement has been issued by ACU Events Ltd following the incident during the second sidecar practice on Tuesday evening which saw the session brought to an end.
It reads:
"ACU Events Ltd regret to announce that sidecar competitor Bill Currie, 67, from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire and his passenger Kevin Morgan, 59, from Shrewsbury were both killed during the second sidecar qualifying session at the 2011 Isle of Man TT Races following an incident at Ballacrye in the North of the Island. The session was immediately red flagged following the incident."

More of the sad news at TT News

Rest in peace Bill Currie and Kevin Morgan

Only one session took place tonight. For some (yet unknown) reason the sidecars started first tonight and one seemingly left a big oil spill between Kirk Michael and Alpine. Sidecars session finished in time but the Solo Session became cancelled because it became impossible to clean the oil spill in time.

Sidecar Top Three
1 Klaffeböck/Sayle 113.572 mph
2 Holden/Winkle 112.623 mph
3 Harrison/Aylott 110.546 mph

Full Sidecar Result of Session 4 at http://www.iomtt.com/TT-2011/2011-TT-Results.aspx

Unfortunately I won't make it to the final Qualifying tomorrow night as I am off to have some asparagus & schnitzel dinner with some comrades of my fire station. However, I will catch up with the news when I am back home and hopefully provide you with the final quali results again.

I'll be definately online for the superbike and sidecar races on Saturday afternoon.

Nice to meet you Bob.
What do you think who will win this year? Is it about Klaffi/Sayle and Holden/Winkle only or do you think that there is a dark horse too?

Oh Dear Andy, I fear I have been away from Sidecar Racing for too long to make predictions that are of any value. The only thing I can say with certainty is that I would sooner be strolling round the Douglas paddock than sat in my office here.

That's a bit odd regarding the impounding of Neary's outfit. Is that all that was reported from your sources?

Good Morning Bob
I only have heard about it on the radio yesterday around noon my time (late morning UK). The outfit was impounded because of the oil spill that led to the fatality.
Anyway, it is not nice for Neary/Crowe to have their TT campaign cut short this way.

Here is hope for fast, safe and enjoyable races today
