What do you think about Rubens Barrichello?
Rubens Barrichello is the second best driver of Formula 1. He is very fast.

Imho Rubens Barrichello is the top driver in the 2nd tier category of f1 drivers which include Ralf, Frentzen etc. He has improved tremendously in this season but what is also making him look good is the fact that Schumacher is taking it easy because he knows he has won the season. I have a lot of respect for Rubens.. what was done to him at Austria was totally unfair and shouldnt have been done.

Either -Schumacher, M -or -Montoya, J P- ... can only be proven if they fight it out as teammates without any team orders.

Juke, you are entitled to your opinion and I am to mine. Michael and Juan battle is heavily tilted in favor of Michael because he is driving a very dominant car. We have discussed it all before...

Barelyfellow... Great ability, wasted by signing contracts that reduce him to dog status... a disgrace...

Barrichello would have been better off not signing for Ferrari as he certainly has the talent capable of beating most other drivers on the grid if given the oppurtunity. But he will never get that at Ferrari unless Schu retires and Barrichello stays at Ferrari.
And don't give me 'but he's in the best car' stuff either. He may be in the best car, but what's the point if he's not allowed to challenge consistently for race wins, and even the championship. Frankly, he's got the best car but the worst deal. As for the second best driver, it would be a toss-up between the two Williams drivers and David Coulthard. |

f1manoz, the flaw I'm pointing out in your argument is, EVEN you acknowledge that he's in the BEST car. By your reasoning, the ONLY person he's NOT allowed to challenge is Michael. So in other words, he should be beating EVERY other guys out there, ROUTINELY, not just once or twice.

The point is, besides Ferrari's second seat, there is NO other competitive seats available for him. If you are out to win, you have to take the best option available, and you have to admit, the Ferrari seat is the best there is now!
As for the 2nd best, i would put JPM. Its not based on the results this year, but an independent analyst of their individual qualities put together. Both had the pace, but in other areas, Michael is as good, if not better than JPM. Which makes Michael edge out... people who don't understand fails to recognise the absolute feel Michael has for his car, and the strategic aspect and ability to drive with his brains as much as with his talent. Coupled to experience..Michael is still the best despite the age setting in... Honest! |

But frankly, it doesnt really matter where Rubens rank. He is impressive and i am impressed. I like watching him and i think he is a good driver in his own rights! Ranking doesn't matter if we had such a quality bunch of top runners!

And by no means am I putting down Ruben, but given the car that he has, he should be consistently be no more than 1 place below (assuming that he can't challenge his team mate due to team orders) his team mate.

How good is Rubens?........ask Ferrari, he's good enough to be taken on as TGF's team-mate, but only because Ferrari know that Rubens won't be beating him race in race out, maybe thats why Ferrari will never sign someone like JPM or Fisi all the tme TGF's there.
(and no, i'm not saying that JPM or Fisi would beat TGF every race, just that they'd give TGF more of a run than Rubens, and Ferrari know it!) |

He lost a lot of points by retiring from 1st, 2nd and 1st position during the first 3 races of this season. If he would have ended those races in 1st, 2nd and 1st place, he would have won in Austria (resulting in a 38 - 38 position for the WDC). I think his pace is not his problem. If he wants to improve, he has got to finish more races. And then he definitely will be the second best driver in Formula 1 (until Ralf, Montoya and Raikkonen reach the same consistency). |

Those saying he should be securing second every race, IMO he would've done so on many more occasions had his car not given up on him.
Leading (albeit briefly) in Australia Second in Malaysia Leading in Brasil Second (on grid) in Spain OK so he had a dud in Monaco but you can't have them all. IMO he's probably the 3rd best at the moment, he's shown ability to overtake, something which others seem to lack (no names!). Michael is the best although a tarnished best at that, JPM is second best and should soon be in a position to challenge Michale for that crown. |
