Woohoo. We get to suffer the following:
a) mud b) drunk Germans c) not being allowed seats d) rain e) wind f) usually appalling views (try Silverstone - at the A1-Ring however the viewing from the Bronze area is fantastic). Just because we pay less (we can't afford a nice grandstand seat) doesn't mean we should be treated like rubbish. Phew. My Austria rants are over. Hurrah! |

Preach on, Brother Man! With ticket prices so high, it looks to me as though they (Bernard E & co.) are trying to deny access to real racing enthusiasts, and at the same time gather as much people who know next to nothing about what's going on down at the track, but are holders of platinum credit-cards or well connected. Here's a graphic example. Some time ago I recieved a mail from a couple of friends who went to Monaco GP this year. Knowing they were not really thrilled with F1, the fact that they recieved FREE tickets (don't ask, they wouldn't tell) blew my gasket. I mean, such things only ever happen to people who either know nothing about the sport, or even worse, they don't give a damn. That's exactly what happened here - in the middle of the proceedings, the aforementioned young ladies "GOT BORED AND WENT FOR A SANDWICH"!!!!! AAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHH!

We were at Donington on Sunday and decided to watch the race in Redgate Lodge. During the race we got bored and went outside to see some real racing - you know, overtaking and everything (!) - does that mean i'm not a fan ? hmmm... Basically F1 sucks. I'm actually watching the review of the 1991 season as I write this - proper racing!!

Ferrari bloke sitting behind us at the Molson Indy was amazed at the seats he was in - $130 for silver grandstand tickets right across from the pits and a big screen TV and good sight lines and easy access. He said that nobody in his price range could afford F1 tickets as good as those were.
If they price you out of the market, then I say find a market you can afford. Snetterton was not expensive (all right, so we didn't have any seats - we brought our own) and some of the racing was good ... CART is always good and Fontana charges TEN DOLLARS USA for Friday and Saturday admission and NOBODY GOES! You can sit anywhere in the whole oval and even go into the pits - and the place is empty. Worthless people will always get the best seats. We had corporate seats behind us at the Los Angeles Kings games and sometimes people would ask us which team was the Kings! Sometimes we told them and sometimes we told them the other team was the Kings. It happens in every sport, I guess. |

At Austria we weren't allowed to take seats in...
But we got round it. (You'll just have to read my forthcoming report to find out how!) |

I'd be suprised if those chosing to visit the CART race at Rockingham in 2001 manage to get anything like as good a deal. Still, I guess it works out cheaper than flying to the US for a race...
