Unfortunatley alot of people are biased against the IRL because they see the boss, Tony George and been completley responsible for wreaking open wheel racing in the states.

It takes two to tango and George stuck up for what he believed in

If people would open there eyes then they would see what a great series the IRL is

I've actually been working on a concept for an episode of ESPN Classic's "Top Five Reasons" show named "Top Five Reasons you can't blame Tony George for the Open Wheel Split"

My eye's are very open my friend and the series I see though intertaining at times is no where near what it was before Tony's vision came to him. It's actually quite boring compared to the 80's and early 90's. Thats just my opinion, and I also think the talent level is not even close to back then.

What exactly don't I get? Everything that was Tony Georges vision never came to fruition, and instead we have a less then average season awaiting us with only 20 to 21 drivers on the track, plus 3 road courses when part of the reason their was a split in the first place was because Tony wanted the IRL to be an ovral series only.

I don't get what I'm missing here?

first of all, arguing this is going nowhere, secondly, I do not intend to argue that the "vision" is correct, though I do assert that many of his accusations of CART were correct. CART will have 2 American drivers this year (not including Vasser, who will probably run part-time), the IRL will have 11. CART was becoming the minor league for F1, Tony thought that the Indy 500 should not be a minor league race and therefore the IRL has become a totally different path with the Indy 500 at its pinnacle, for better or for worse. But again, this was 10 years ago, a lot has changed since then, and yes, I do support unification, I just think there's a ton of hurdles to cross before it can happenen, even if all parties are motivated.

And you don't think it anything but minor league now?

Minor League to what? IRL skills don't transfer well to anything really (except as it may appear, sportscar racing). The IRL is now a pinnacle, albeit a lower pinnacle.

Except for the fact that TG never said the IRL was oval only....

Precisely Snips - he said he wanted to give US drivers a low-cost chance of racing at the Indy 500, and he has done that, although the costs have gone up over time.

Here's the way i basically look at it:

Champ Car is a road course based series that travels all over the world, but mainly stays in America. These cars are meant for road racing.

Indy Racing is INDY BASED meaning that it is meant strictly for ovals. They also stay in the US.

Formula 1 is a european based series that does all road courses.

I don't feel that any league is minor to the other. They all have their perks and excitement.

I don't mean to argue, but the majority of drivers that have been successful in ChampCar and CART have been drivers that either washed out of formula 1 or fell through the cracks of their development ladder.

The majority of drivers in the Indycar series this year were CART drivers. Sam Hornish and Danica Patrick "fell through the cracks" of Toyota Atlantic. Marco Andretti won in the IPS but was a lower half of the top ten runner in Star Mazda.

D70s, Sam Hornish Jr.'s first open wheel, rear-engine race was the the F2000 show as a support to the inaugural IRL race at Disney World in 1996. IMO, he and Danica are where they want to be. Or they wouldn't be there.

I heard that he was lined up for Dreyer and Reinbold but Robbie Buhl recommended Lazier for the drive and it was Lazier that got it

Barron is a decent driver, deserves a drive in the IRL
