A Story
I do not usually post here and if the mods think this is out of line please delete.
I have written a story on early Cdn. Race Comunications Assoc. and early marshaling at Mosport for www.thegarageblog.com I am a regular writer there on mostly 60's thru 80's and cover many aspects of those days. The second part of the above story is the first time I have more than just said I was the Senior marshal at that incident. I discovered after writing the story that it still bothers me. |

Hi Leighton, not much time as I'm jetting off to USA in a couple of hours to make ready for Sebring.
I understand how you feel, I have lost a marshal and driver at a serious incident at Goodwood, in which my good friend Steve Tarrant also lost a leg. I still get flashbacks and "what if " scenarios when something catches me wrong, and am grateful for the help and counciling I have had from both professionals and other marshals since. But that is what we are all talking to each other for on this forum, Marshals are a world wide family, and like all families will suport our own when needed. Having been on post with you before I can say that you are still more than capable of holding your own head high, and realising that there was nothing more you could have done. Even today, an accicdent like that can happen and with all the efficient response crews and expert medical help can still go pearshaped. You did everything right with the staff and experience they had. If you want to talk more, PM me, I will be in St Paul this week and then Florida for two weeks. |
