lol Toyota Press Release
Defending champions TOYOTA GAZOO Racing got the new 2019-2020 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season underway with the first practice sessions for the 4 Hours of Silverstone today. The fastest non-hybrid, the #1 Rebellion, was 1.029secs away from Kamui’s lap as all competitors adjusted to a revised Equivalence of Technology, which sees the TS050 HYBRID now carrying at least 99kg of additional weight compared to its competitors, who also benefit from at least 50% more fuel per lap. "We're fastest, but it's reallllly unfair guys". |

Times dropped a lot between the first and second practices. THe Ginetta even found a second. Was expected the to be a bit closer in pace, but I guess the car is still new to the team and the majority of the drivers.

First time post on here!!
Had to visit Silverstone to see the last hurrah for these cars in the UK, the speed through the Becketts complex was staggering, to me the Rebellion looked super quick through there, Toyota as too but probly carrying 20mph more speed so needed a lift! Ginetta did few laps, in and out a lot it seemed. Track looked great, and awesome they opened a bit of the Wing up to allow fans over the pit area, a really good idea. Only poor show was despite a thousand folk there, the WEC "fan" show thing was all closed, that was rather poor in my view. |

Welcome to the forum.
What were the other classes like? Close as usual in GTE? |

Allow me to introduce myself.
I'll be honest - I like the new graphics. A bit much at times (the elements generally could be reduced in size by ~15% to no real detriment) but the arrangement is fine. Edit - Okay, the progress bar for the session needs to go - I can tell the time. But that's the only rankle I have so far. |

I also like the new interface. The progress to the next sector is good if you don't know where the sectors are. That's a nice step up. Very modern.
Whoever did those needs to go redo the website and app. Speaking of which, I hope that Chrome addon still gives us good Live Timing. |

Good qualifying session all around. I of course focus mostly on lmp1 and the gaps look good to me. I know that the Toyotas swept the front row but the Rebellion's are right with them. In fact they're only a tenth off but they didn't hook up all the best sectors in qualifying. If they did, they would be at a 1:36.0 which is equal to the #8 Toyota and only .1 behind the pole #7. Sector 2 they are incredibly fast. I think we're on for a good race up front.

Qualifying was good and I think the opening 5 laps will be REALLY close. I expect the gaps will increase when traffic and pit stops come around.

If you use Google Chrome then go here:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...dkcgcbigegbcjc Then try to load the official live timing. It should auto switch to the nice live timing. If not, there should be a button in the top right. It isn't quite as good as Timing71, but it's still very very good. |

Also, finding it difficult to get excited for this one. Really want to, but a 4 hour Sunday morning race...that's elms watch while I'm getting ready territory. Wonder if Toyota will win? |

The WEC app was hopeless for us during qually, taking forever to update.... The ELMS timing was way better and much easier to read.

The timing should work. My understanding of the technical side of it is just that it's pulling additional data from the timing data stream and displaying it on a new layer on the website. Basically - all the data is in the timing stream. WEC just doesn't use it. Hopefully it continues to work today. The WEC app is indeed, garbage. The website is also garbage. The ELMS timing works, but once again it lacks the data required to follow an endurance race properly. |

Poor crowd here. Becketts is closed, as is half of Club. Stands all along start/finish straight all open though, so publicity shots can show busy stands even if the rest of the circuit is a ghost town.
Frankly I’m almost wishing they hadn’t bothered. Ginettas are great though. 🙄 |

That’s always been the weekend attendance claim and might still reach that because the Sat crowd was bigger than I recall from previous years. It seems quite a few made the same judgment as some on this forum that Sat was where the vfm was.

For those with live timing: The Chrome addon appears to work. Data loads with blank times at the moment.
