Arrows almost broke?
according to the dutch magazine Race Report the Arrows team desperately needs new finances, if they don't find new sponsors they will go broke, the money they have left will only last 2 gp's, so Arrows could be gone after Monaco. The engines seem to be to expensive for Arrows.
Dutch Arrows sponsor Lost Boys has said that Jos still has'nt been payed for the 2001 season and that they had suggested that TW would use their contribution to pay Jos, be Tom refused to do that. |

So, Valve Bounce's hex lives on even after last weekend? I never guessed it would do this much damage...

There is more to this than meets the eye. I read a piece recently that Arrow's had been 'sold' to a motor sport holdings group. The thinking is that this isn't a genuine sale but an alleged move by TW to circumvent some of Arrow's debts.
Watch this space on this one. |

Then there were the rumours that Tom Walkinshaw really was behind the Phoenix bid and was willing to let Arrows hang and would start a new TWR team with Nickerson.

Well I'm sticking with them.
Tom is one of the fairest on most honorable men in Formula One today. All those that have worked with him have nothing but praise and regret they did'nt continue the relationship. His keen business accumin and innovative lateral thinking have formed Arrows into the winning leaders they are today. * I've seriously gotta start taking my medication earler in the day. * |

That's a finely turned bit of satire, Wrex. Still and all, this is depressing news: I do not like to see a team going under, especially so soon after the demise of Prost, and most especially because I think Frentzen deserves a drive, and I don't see him popping up in any of the other remotely competitive cars this year or, because of his hugely advanced age (ten yrs. younger than I am, ) next year.

Maybe this is exactly what the manufacturers want before they begin their own F1 series?

Ol' HHF is a bit of a jinx these days, isn't he? First Prost, now Arrows...
Shame really, - perhaps Jaguar should consider buying the Arrows cars, give them something decent to run for once. |

Even though Tommy boy has been in the bad books with everyone since dumping Jos (which, IMO, was a good decision BTW) it would be a shame to see Arrows go under. They are starting to look promising.

Hmmm...though Tom's work ethics may not be approved... i would not like to see Arrows go... they had managed to do quite well relative to Jaguar..and i really want to see 'promising' cars on the track.
And Arrows had come up with a quite interesting cars/design recently 98/99, 01 and 02 so do wish they stay around to spice things up...! |

and 1 point for HHF means nothing, in all the years Jos drove for Arrows he scored more points than his teammate: 1996 Jos 1 -Rosset 0 2000 Jos 5 -PDLR 2 2001 Jos 1 -Bernoldi 0 also don't forget that 6 cars retired when driving ahead of HHF last race(Barichello,Raikkonen,Ralf,Panis,Trulli and Button), so the point was kind of lucky. That Phart deal smelled rotten from the start. I am under no illusions that TW is up to something, desperately trying to get money from any source at all. Can't say I feel sorry for him.
Maybe Paul Stoddart should dump Asiatech and pick up the works Cosworth when Arrows finally fall to earth. That Cosworth engine can't be all bad. Valve |

Yeah but Arrows are still paying for the engines. I guess Tom took the notion that he'd be paying for engines whatever this season (I think the general jist of the arrows Asiatech deal was the engines were free the first year, but after that, they'd have to pay for them), you might as well shop about a bit.

Try looking in the Arrows website under the sponsor/partner and read calais.
I for one won't mention cosworth's name in there if i have to pay. Last edited by Jukebox; 4 May 2002 at 01:52. |
