Mugen Honda
just got to thinking about Honda in F1 this year and remember a few years back when Mugen prepared the engines after Honda officially pulled out.
I may be wrong but i believe that was still part of the Honda families companies and not just a comercial offshoot. but what i really want to know about them is this. are Mugen still operating and preparing race engines??? do they have anything to do with the Hondas that BAR are using ?? and shoudl they get re-involved with F1 to add yet another (well sort of) engine company into the mix ??? I'd like to see them there , i mean they could draw from the resources of honda themselves but yet put their own spin on things , but I guess if they started beating the factory hondas then there would be questions asked and heads might roll , but its an interesting thought anyway. |

Not sure what mugen are doing now except the usual kits for honda cars.
Mugen is owned and run (last i heard) by the son of the founder of honda.I'm sure thay would get involved in f1 if someone paid them to as before (by either honda or a customer team) |

If Honda pull out, expect to see Mugen-Honda's for a few years...

Mugen is still primarily a tuner company but im sure they do some racing. Ilmor was designing and building the recent Honda engines but now that Mercedes owns them im not sure what happened, probably spun off into a different company.

Honda built Honda engines! Ilmor had nothing to do with Honda. |

Sorry I didnt clarify. Ilmor is building Honda IRL engines, not F1.

Are you sure they are not refering to Honda's IRL engine which is built by Ilmor. I believe the F1 engine is built by Honda.

But Mugen don't have the resources to compete in F1 now, any more than Judd, Mader or Roush do.

Resources are but a manufacturer's blank cheque away....
A Heine Mader-tuned private BMW engine sounds pretty sweet, especially on the back of the Megatron program all those years ago |
