If driver aids do get banned...
...who do you think would struggle at first? People may *****, but I think Kimi Raikkonen could struggle a bit if this happened. I mean, hasn't he got used to TC since starting F1? How would he do if it was banned?

Didn't Kimi raced unaided in his first few races? If memory serves me correctly driveraids got unbanned from Barcelona 2001 on.
To answer your question, I don't think any of em will really struggle. Theyre professional racingdrivers and they know how the handle cars. Driveraids are just that: merely 'aids'. They are not the diffrence between a driveable car and an undriveable car. If you are a trained professional that is. |

You have a point. He has absolutely no experiance of controlling the sort of power an F1 car has and so may struggle to begin with, as will many of the drivers that have been used to TC over the last couple of years (Bernoldi (if he drives) etc).
Winners would have to be Schu, JPM, Pizzonia (no TC in cart)and any of those with recent non-tc experiance. Although in general I think they would all adapt pretty quickly. The good thing is that banning it will help seperate the good drivers from the not so good and make things a lot more interesting. |

I don't think banning driver aids will show who are the better drivers. I think we already know who the better drivers are. In fact banning driver aids will just leave more room for cheating.
I am for getting rid of them because its nice to see the drivers balance the car with the throttle. I still believe the best car will win the races. F1 is about the cars. |

Kimi having trouble with car control? No way. He's got some of the fastest hands in motorsport.

Unless the fia(note lack of capitals, just as in f1)bring in control ECM's,there will allways be totally legal types of imitation TC.The most obvious is the control of revs rising too fast in any given gear/rev range. There are heaps of other legal types.Actually i can imagine that such things make the driving look better because anyone can then drive any car partly sideways easily.Of course this is different from saying that the drivers will BE better...
What's REALLY needed is a requirement that designers engineer into the cars the ability for downforce to INCREASE slightly at moderate yaw angles!!!!!!!!!!! Then ban TC if you want to(i still think i'd like to) BTW,saw a comment by martin brundle recently saying that the '94(?) Benetton had just this ability-it was at it's fastest when slightly sideways.Interesting |

But i neglected to say that i think there would be stuff all difference. The drivers would all be about the same.
Unfortunately fnone has problems so great that a change to no TC would even register in the feel, sound and look of the way they race. |

no TC
half the downforce increase the power (1000bhp has a nice ring to it) using 4.0l engines re-instate slicks manual shift gearboxs (OK, sequential, but no electronic downshift engine rev matching) Then we'd see who was who in the zoo. If that didn't work - fit sprinklers on the corners to come on at random. |

one thing about driver aids is........in this weeks autosport it was said that it just isnt right when people like Nico Rosberg can get into a F1 ar at 17 and practiclly be on the pace.....so i think driver aids to make it easier for the less talented drivers for sure......im not saying Nico Rosberg isnt talented all.....hes a yong guy but unless he turns about to be a superstar , then the drivers aids have flattered him quite a lot just like they do all the other drivers .
