That 800 with a 2x tele in the bright sun would be the bee's knees wouldn't it?

Oh yes please! I'll have one of each, especially the 200.
The 800 looks OK, I can imagine it not being the easiest thing to use in a motorsport environment though... |

800 for motorsport?!?
I know the Silverstone run offs are big, but you'd have to be in Towcester for that to be useful! |

Yeah, I'm sure it's much more geared towards wildlife and wedding photographers, and the like...

I believe the 1200mm F5.6L used to retail at only around $90,000......I say 'only'.......of course I couldn't afford another one.....
I would expect the 800 to be up in the $high teens/low twenties |

I would imagine it'll be about 2 grand, or in that area. The 70-200 f2.8 is over a grand I think.
The 800, I dread to think... |

"If you have to ask, you can't afford it" territory.
I'd guess at add a zero to your other price... |

Given that a 400 2.8 with a 1.4x tc is about as long as I even use, I can't see that I will be rushing out to get an 800...
Price wise, I would guess around the $12k mark, maybe less, It doesn't look much different to the 600 f4 and it's a stop slower, so I don't see it being mega expensive. I could be wrong though.... |

It's interesting to see the 200 prime coming back in - Canon used to do a 200mm F1.8 lens.....I've only ever seen one, but it looked a cracking bit of kit
70-200 F2.8 is around £1300 now I think.........and I've been thinking about the 800mm......since the front element is no bigger than the 400mm F2.8, maybe it will not be much more expensive (essentially it's just a 400 2.8 with the 2x tele built in, but with fewer lenses). So I reckon it might retail for around the £5500 mark |

For the unfamiliar out there....here it is...... The tripod comes with it, and I think the other accessory spotted here is provided to wipe the lens and help carry it |

Nah, I'm named from a friend in Texas who I arranged the purchase of my 400mm F2.8 through........I told him it would be quite big, but when it arrived with him he said "it's not big.....it's the Hubble...."
